One of the most frustrating battles is defending how long some of our lessons take. They need time! They are thinking! Their brains are literally developing in front of me, so yes, it might take us longer than what has arbitrarily been deemed as the appropriate time to learn a literary skill!

This is deeper than anything I’ve encountered in 12 years. The usually conversations and tutoring is not working and the student simply cannot function without access to ChatGPT for every piece of work. I’m looking for one last push before the end of the year to help them.

In Texas, their absence from school can put them in jeopardy of losing credit and having to attend makeup hours, but they’ve chosen to put their energy toward protest and I love that they are empowered.
