Sorry to disappoint, it was just a stop on what was basically a glorified pub crawl. We weren’t a big enough place to have proper Christmas parties like that!

Started in the late 70s so that would fit the timeline. I saw them in their later incarnation on one of work’s Christmas parties that always seemed to coincide with my birthday.

This was the first “COVID Project” I remember. A bit quick, I prefer the pacing of David Willcocks’ version from the 60s, but I like the video.

I remember the controversy when it first came out. Any priest who dared try introduce it into Mass risked serious trouble. So of course ours couldn’t wait.

I was on a project in Madison for six months or so, many years ago now. Every few weeks we’d hit the Mousehouse Cheesehaus about 20 mins up the road. Loved that place!

Yes. Also the safe social space where kids would congregate and recreate and, well, you know. In Australia, almost always run by a Greek family who’d come over after the War to make a new life.

You’re right, of course. You and I are probably the last generation to see them in their full glory, before Modern Times consigned them to museum walls and faded memories.
This is a bit of a read, but I think it gets the feel.

Aussie, fellow Packer fan just outside H-town here, married to an English gal.
England invented the game (in its modern form), and yet have been World Champions only once; the Pack has won 4 Superbowls since that happened. It’s a point of national chagrin if not shame.

Just played back a version with the Man in Black, his wife and kids. Mother MayBelle might have been in the back, a direct link to the original. Maybe my ears are tuned differently, I think I prefer the newer take.

I guess that was the fashion at the time. Or maybe they just didn’t have the luxury of multiple takes or edits back then.

Not just the Mediterranean. Beersheba in 1917 was the last great cavalry charge. We lost a lot of our boys in northern France and Flanders, there is an ANZAC Day Dawn Service at Villers-Bretonneux. Very few countries have lost more per capita over the years, except maybe our ANZAC brethren.

Your ANZAC brethren had the same laws in place, only in later years did we ever get to hear the “originals”. Even had to rename some acts (UK Squeeze, British Jigsaw come to mind) because there was a local act already using the name.
