That is all we can do at this point - make a guess based on previous seasons. Mtl, Ottawa, buf have supposedly been on the rise for years. Teams lose good players all the time. the leafs might even be a bit worse next year but to say marner is the reason they make playoffs is a reach
comment in response to

Yeah exactly - heâs not worth his past salary and wonât be worth his next contract either
comment in response to

Plus the $4m minimum is savings on JTâs new salary will mean another impact player can be added. This team needed a restructure of salary division. Lamenting losing a player with gaudy regular season numbers who wilts in the playoffs mean you fail to realize the teams biggest issue.

Well firstly the leafs donât play in the west. They will have Detroit, Boston,Mtl, and Ottawa being not very good in their division. And the leafs have played many games without a core 4 member and continued to win. Plus they will add a player of value to replace 16, not just call up a marlie.

Lol they finished 1st! Losing one player no matter how good does not make them a non-playoff team đ€Ł

Ones a star centre the other is a potential star winger. I like know but his value might never be higher right now and if you can get a 2c for term Iâd say that would be wise

Which if possible leaf should probably do. As hard as it would be to replace Knies, itâs harder to get a player like EP.

Lol maybe Reilly and Cowan or Knies

Heâs gonna be the next Stephen Weiss

Ah thanks for reminding me lol ⊠I was starting to think âhey leafs pushed them to 7â. But no this core hasnât got it done with many chances.

In 2014/15 the bruins realized they werenât good enough - moved fan fave lucic and retooled and were very good again within 2 years and remained good for another 5 years and look like they are going to do the same now. The worst thing a team can do I wait too long to accept a team isnât good enough.

Im saying before final and tre takes on role at pres/gm - maybe they hire another gm
comment in response to

Yeah and it will need to be wound down. Not blown up due to no 1st round picks. Need to sign some decent players without no trade clauses so they trade them in couple years when the tear down starts. Matthews will be great in a Jordan stall/Jamie Ben type roll on the 2031 leafs
comment in response to
post
Really? To me sounds like heâs calling out other players. 88 & 91 were bad for the last 3 gms but were great for the first 3 so hard to blame them. 34 had a bad playoff in Swiss league but that actually seems to be his level at crunch time. Not sure how many âplayoffâ gms he played in before the NHL
comment in response to

Canât score one goal in the series and call others passengers. He our best player and I want him a leaf for life - but you canât say this line. 1 goal all series, 88 had 1 goal 30 seconds in.

No 1st picks till 2028 so retool not an option. Are their any good options to add to this team via free agency. Trade Morgan? Whatâs his value around league?
comment in response to

When dubas took over Gm that was the thought ânow they are going to be an all offence team, skill on every lineâand instead he drove them right to the middle of the road.

These penalties are so obvious tho, like that trip is called every time. A clear penalty
comment in response to

Tanking isnât even an option - they donât have their 1st round pick until 2028
comment in response to
post
And no first round picks for a coupe of years - so a quick retool isnât an option really
comment in response to

Imagine he just pitches back to back shutouts and puts the panthers on the brink
comment in response to

Not to mention the series could get out of control now. And it will be a leafs player get a retaliatory penalty/suspension to lay down the law
comment in response to

Series should have swapped schedule. Leafs playing Sunday twice and no Saturday games???

Yeah, superstition is bogus and think itâs silly when people are, but then I think âif I put in a good days work today, the leafs will win because I was productive đâ

Lol, no but stutzle Claud and Brady will smoke them.
I think green will run pinto on Auston, batherson v tavares, and stutzle against the bottom lines. So both need to be capable defensively

The counts for squat in the post season. Refs just call the penalties even. It wonât be 6-3 in favour of Ottawa.

Yeah a lot off the playoff goal scoring can be attributed to a terrible power play. But they never scored well under Keefe in the playoffs. Dubas pretty consistently drove the roster to middle of the road. Upped management drove the right to mediocrity with berube. Jury is still out on treliving.
comment in response to
post
Keefe might even be better. I had no problem making a coaching change - the problem was not an obvious upgrade at the time and it was the second coaching change in a row where a preferred candidate was identified with no real search process completed.
comment in response to
post
Fair to say the leafs are not well coached team under berube. Every broadcast goes on and on about how improved defensively the leafs are, itâs just an uninformed narrative. And they donât play to their strengths
