We really are...

Your writing certainly left an impression. We didn't even have a PC when I started reading it.

Did you write the original PC Gamer review for it? I remember marvelling over that as a child.

What if I secretly want the players to do a thing but don't want to help them get there?

I often find that a detailed character backstory tells me who a character was but not what they're actually like. Whereas even writing something short in their voice really helps me pin them down.

docs.google.com/document/d/1... I'll let you be the judge.

She also has a manifesto - I may have gotten overexcited and carried away.

I'm playing an anarchistic former hacktivist (and possibly eco-terrorist) who brushed up against things-that-should-not-be-seen and stumbled into a server that turned out to not actually belong to the CIA. She now finds herself unwillingly under the thumb of Delta Green.

What would Herbert West do? Reanimate those old ideas!

The best review of my work that I've ever been lucky enough to receive starts with a bit about how shit my marketing copy was. I'm now writing a crowdfunding preview page with a short essay about my complicated feelings towards crowdfunding. Sometimes, I feel like I'm actively trying to fail.

I am potentially interested, albeit with reservations about inflicting some of my writing on others.

I loathe the very idea of having to be marketable, and yet, without some kind of endorsement, all creative efforts are destined to be unread and ignored.

It likely would have improved it, but it had larger issues that needed fixing.

Why would you say that, I hadn't noticed.

Haha, what? This is literally the plot of one of my games.

I've downloaded it, I'll give it a read on the weekend.

Sounds interesting, I'll check it out when I've got a bit of time.

See, it's hard to explain, isn't it? It's not just me. 😅

In no particular order and not necessarily the best, just what came to mind: Possessor - 2020 Brandon Cronenberg The Substance - 2024 Coralie Fargeat The Lighthouse - 2019 Robert Eggers The Menu - 2022 Mark Mylod Civil War - 2024 Alex Garland

Now, I'm questioning myself over whether that should have been 'fewer than' instead of 'less than'. Weeks are a countable noun, but I was referring to an amount of time.

Thanks, that's helpful. I think I'll try using something I've previously sold through DriveThru as a test and see how it comes out in comparison.

I don't have a shopify currently, but that sounds interesting. I'll have a look into it.

If just half of our bluesky followers were Friendly NPC subscribers, we would be able to pay all four full time journalists a living wage, hire another journalist, and increase our contributor pool. Every single subscriber counts. www.rascal.news#/portal/

Thanks! However, I don't appear to be able to DM you, do you mind shooting me a message?

Leaning more modern, although aiming to evoke a bit of a combination of submarine warfare and modern naval combat.

Awesome! I'll give it a read, thanks.

Mostly looking for opinions on quality, which settings/options to use for a TTRPG and any potential pitfalls to be aware of.

Now I just need London After Midnight to re-issue Psycho Magnet, and I'll have finally collected my top 5 albums on vinyl.

These were the notes I scribbled down at the time, which seems to be about determining hit locations for direct fire and vertical/missile attacks.

Yes, I think that's the thing. I have no problem with crunchy rules, but it has to be to fulfil a purpose. It has to communicate what the game is really about and what it isn't.

Starfish by Peter Watts - If you want a bleak and utterly crushing sci-fi dystopia with a marine biology twist. Venomous Lumpsucker by Ned Beauman - If you want a bleak but darkly comedic sci-fi dystopia with a marine biology twist. I might have a type.

Oh, nice. This is the one I've wanted for a while.

Thanks! I really struggle with organic modelling, but I was determined to do them.

So, I hadn't played it until well after I'd designed the models, but I was definitely aware of it. I painted the first test print in Highfleet inspired colours after someone else pointed it out, and I finally got around to playing it. Some art by Chris Foss was the original inspiration.
