It's telling that the cop-loving councillors are the ones who are basically saying the cops are useless and we need to … I dunno, call 311 to get a bylaw officer sent over?

Like, if someone legit feels they're being harassed and blocked by protesters as they try to attend a service, take their kids to school or an after-school activity, or attend a real estate seminar, do these councillors really think they're going to call 311?

On the bright side, any respite from the endless parade of reverse-mortgage ads is welcome.

I’m finding the new season a bit gimmick-heavy too. And people from Quebec City don’t have Pepe Le Pew accents.

In the spirit of Mike Cole, we should dig a moat 500 metres wide around High Park so that it doesn’t get spoiled by being too accessible to the public.

Does Mike ever get down to the islands? He might be surprised at what all is there.

Yeah, the rule of thumb I recall was 60% editorial, 40% ads. So 40% of the paper brought in 80% of the money.

The ones I recall were more sinister. Like Gladys Kravitz via the Twilight Zone. www.huffingtonpost.ca/2014/05/29/n...

This is another example of the significant shift happening under Chow versus Tory. Under Tory, councillors rarely criticized staff in public like this. Matlow even got docked pay for doing it. There's definitely more appetite for demanding public accountability now.

I observed yesterday, that situation is the mirror image of a virtuous circle. The syndicate betrayed the papers’ trust by serving them something that was deficient. The freelancer screwed the syndicate. And I just have to think the syndicate was screwing the freelancer. And that’s where we are.
