I mean, honorary deputy mayor is a role that could be carried out by the City Hall foliage Rob Ford didn’t want to pay someone to water, and now it effectively is, so I refuse to entertain any notion that Chow exercised poor judgment (yet again) with this appointment.

In 2006 Ainslie was appointed as an interim councillor on the understanding he would not seek election, and then he ran in the election. I can think of no one better to bestow this pretend title upon than a guy who’s been a seat filler for 20 years.
