I mean, honorary deputy mayor is a role that could be carried out by the City Hall foliage Rob Ford didn’t want to pay someone to water, and now it effectively is, so I refuse to entertain any notion that Chow exercised poor judgment (yet again) with this appointment.

In 2006 Ainslie was appointed as an interim councillor on the understanding he would not seek election, and then he ran in the election. I can think of no one better to bestow this pretend title upon than a guy who’s been a seat filler for 20 years.

Heaven forbid anyone should throw a wrench into the works of Mayor Chow's shady deal with Quasi-Mayor Ford.

Liberals have been the party of Reagan for decades. Mulroney got the ball rolling but Chrétien and Martin solidified neoliberalism as the rule of the day. Trudeau dressed it up nicer but Carney is just returning to form.

The mayor's yes vote is not surprising, but disappointing.

At least, within 165 feet of any place of worship, daycare or school. Bring your tape measure with you!

I can therefore only conclude that in the city of Toronto, lawful activities protected by the Charter of Rights and Freedoms are prohibited.

Take heart, then, that bingo, rummage sales and real estate seminars will be covered by the bubble zone.

Procedural confusion? When Frances Nunziata is occupying the chair? Why, that has never happened in her 15 years (!) as speaker. /s

Because nobody has ever laid an amendment on the table while the main motion is being debated. SMGDH

They're not the same.

This is not a drill

I don't care what the chyron says, Randy is most definitely not fine

Actually, there is an easy answer. We need to flood the market with no-profit housing and nationalize REITs. We need to stop pretending that this issue has no obvious solutions.

I get that city council is less formal than other levels of government, but isn't it unparliamentary to impugn your colleagues' motives?

PBS is censoring a Jewish artist to protect the feelings of a fascist President who insists the mass murder of children is protecting Jewish people. What are we even doing here?

This would pretty much rule out all protest in Toronto. You’d be hard pressed to find 100 metres that has neither a school, daycare, nor place of worship.

Not content to kill seniors and children, the Ford government turns its hand to killing dogs. www.thestar.com/news/investi...

No we did not. It is not a strong mandate in any sense, and it certainly wasn't to do this. "Canadians gave Prime Minister Mark Carney a strong mandate to negotiate a comprehensive new security and economic relationship with the United States” www.cp24.com/news/world/2...

i think it should be a bigger story that the president held a meeting with a foreign head of state where he ranted about the most gutter white supremacist propaganda you can find on the internet

Does this one talk to his dead dogs, too?

If other countries shot at a Canadian delegation, they wouldn’t get off with a finger wagging. Canada needs to sanction and boycott Israel.

i thought the whole point of electing this guy was that he wasn’t an idiot

The IDF said it "regrets the inconvenience caused." Inconvenience? Like it was just a little oopsie This happens 2 days after Can.'s joint statement criticising the Israeli govt on the Gaza humanitarian crisis We're too cowardly to call it a genocide, yet this www.cbc.ca/news/politic...

“please don’t put a bus lane in front of my 6-fingered glove store. my customers will have nowhere to park their cars with extra large door handles 😭” torontolife.com/city/bathurs...

It's almost as if the safe injection sites had value.

Wrote about how journalism’s slop crisis started long before that AI-generated summer insert. Sadly this isn’t a new thing! (Gift link so everyone can read it)
