Whether/how defection occurs depends on several factors:
First is what mil is being ordered to do: to forcibly disperse protesters or, less controversially, offer logistical/admin support to other security forces. In the U.S., it appears the admin. is calling for Guard to do latter (so far). 4/

So i looked in the newspaper archive and found an advertisement from that same businessman launching his firm, in the town of Köping!
And not only that, I suspect the timing means this advert was the same one the Baron saw, and which made him start to scheme.

I was trying to find out more about the fake baron, the Swedish king of the beggars. I found a (fake?) letter in the national archive that was from a businessman and with the note 'Köping.' Now is that a reference to a city called Köping, or to some kind of trade activity known 200 years ago?
