That's not to take away from Haruka Tomatsu's performance as Mayu in the scene. She keeps up with Kurosawa Tomoyo and you feel equally as bad for Mayu trying to fix things despite her being the very last person that Kumiko wants to see at that time.

It should be said that Aoi Haru no Kazoete is not a work within the fiction and her name is just an easter egg. It is an actual short story anthology (not a novel oops) she wrote in 2018.
