Grow some balls, Rogan. Admit outright supporting him was a mistake. That'd make you the Real Alpha TM so many podcast bros seem to love.

The fact that anyone supports a modern-day American Gestapo is so depressing

We don't worship dear leaders no matter what they do. That's what they can't understand

If someone is MAGA and says they are Christian, I don't believe them. It's one or the other at this point.

Keep it up. I want MAGA to be in the rear view mirror of my life.

I left the church in my teens due to hypocrisy and scapegoating of outsiders. If Catholics/the Pope keep this up, for the first time in my life Im considering stepping back inside a church again. I never thought I'd say that.

Ive been very pleased with this Pope so far. He practices what he preaches

Take it from a person raised in a fundamentalist religious environment: Forcing religion onto the young is THE WORST way to ensure they remain in the faith as an adult.

Yes, because I grew up very conservative. It's getting much harder the more I'm out though.

For those wondering: He did have an updated statement on inclusion in the church. He said, while the doctrine will not change, he stands by Pope Francis that all must be welcome in the faith. So basically, he'll probably be sticking by Pope Francis on that.

This news comes as such a relief to me. I left the Protestant church due to their treatment of those not in power but have yearned for that spirituality again. I've been so sad to see the church in general backslide.

This is a very, very good sign for the disenfranchised and the fight against MAGA. The catholic church may never be super left-wing, but they can still help advance for those not in power.

It's become cliche, but it's true. Left-leaning people sometimes need perfect leaders or they won't support at all.

It's a pipe dream to get a truly progressive pope, but I'll take a moderate one over a tyrant any day. I was terrified we'd end up with a MAGA-style authoritarian douche.

As a non-catholic, I have to say I've never seen other non-catholics so invested in this. This felt very high stakes to me personally (and my friends), and I was anxious about it for a solid week before the announcement. Now, I'm hopeful. Pope Leo seems dedicated to dialogue and healing division.

He's definitely not a bleeding heart liberal, but Im optimistic and happy with this choice so far. It seems he will want to carry on the legacy of being the peoples' pope

I used to make excuses for Joe when people hated on him. I loved that he gave people a voice who normally wouldn't have one, like ex-Scientologists. Now it feels like he'll buy anything from people he thinks are smart or he's idolized.

I'm not Catholic myself, but I know many Catholic people. I think people assume most Christian people are on board with Trump because Evangelicals/Conservative Protestants often love him. Catholics are absolutely not a political monolith, even amongst the Clergy. Not a smart move for Trump.

Catholics are A LOT more divided regarding MAGA than most people think. I don't think he can afford this trolling stunt.
