The question is why was the pitch anywhere near the plate? Usually the catcher stands to the side and gives a target way out there.

The weirdest part was all the FBI guys that were in camouflage fatigues. They were in a city so not sure what protection they thought the camo would provide on an urban street.

Iowan here. Would love to see her beat but only Dem candidate so far is a total unknown.

Most of the things Trump is trying to do through executive orders aren’t legal either. But the press just reports on the EO as if it’s a passed law.

And don’t forget your superintendent of education.

Republicans keep saying, if we get able bodied men off Medicaid we can balance the budget. Very little of Medicaid expenditures go towards healthy adult men.

The thing is, you can be extremely stupid and still be a senator because all you have to do is show up and vote. Whereas a governor has to actually govern.

Was it a clean strip? I haven’t seen an angle where you can tell. And at the other end, Sabrina drew a foul by ramming her shoulder into the defender. Liberty shot twice as many free the as Fever.

That folder is getting awfully thick.

The thing is, if these basement dwelling young men are under 26 they can be on their parent’s health insurance and don’t need Medicaid so I doubt this actually saves much.

Well reasoned thread. I guess the question is, was the writer greedy and looking to make a quick buck or did the paper pay such a low fee that it only made sense to take the job if you used AI? Or somewhere in between?

Always interesting to ask 40 and 50 year olds what their current job is versus what their college major was. Get that first job out of school and then see what path it will lead you to.

You’re forgetting about my Senator, Chuck Grassley, age 91 (R).

Howard forced up two shots with a lot of time left on the clock. Don’t understand why you don’t set up something for Caitlin.

If you want to help low income earners, then lower their tax rate. This only helps a select group of workers, some of whom actually earn a very good income from tips. They get to exclude $25K from income but the dishwasher or janitor doesn’t.

I didn’t realize that other parts of the world don’t have tornados. Why is that?

Justices should not be writing books or seeking book deals while still on the bench. Resign if you want to be published.

I still go on X for sports twitter because it’s much more robust there than here, although Bluesky is getting better.

The difference is that Cuomo is apparently running for office again whereas Biden is not.

And Reynolds not running for reelection adds another twist; does that mean she doesn’t have to worry about what Bruce wants?
comment in response to post
Any amendments accepted or is this the exact same version the House passed? Will Reynolds sign it?

At 7:59 this morning I got a breaking news alert from NYT that Trump announces an India - Pakistan ceasefire. Scrolling down, it did say that neither country said the US played a role as Trump implied (and as the alert headline implied).

So where is ICE getting all this manpower to make all these arrests all over the country, especially because it seems like it takes 10 of them to take one person into custody.

Misspelled “review” three different ways in adjoining panels. AI is worthless.

I’ve been retired for a while and never used ChatGPT so my serious question is - what use is it if it just makes up things like book titles or legal citations? Why use something that is unreliable?
comment in response to post
Infallible is the word you’re looking for.

I live in the Midwest so am only acquainted with a small number of federal employees but they all seemed dedicated and competent.

Yet, they keep jacking them up.

I think there are huge chunks of things the president is responsible for that Trump has no interest in doing or caring about. Yet, he will insert himself into something inconsequential like the board of directors of the Kennedy Center.

Our town was too small to have a Catholic school; we had Catechism on Saturday mornings taught by nuns from a nearby larger town. My kids went to parochial school (public schools so-so in our area) and I think it was mainly a good experience.

We inherited my father-in-law’s 2014 Cadillac SUV. The only way to turn on the AC was on the screen and the touch screen was getting wonky so we’d be sitting in a hot car trying to press the screen just right so the AC would come on. Yes, we traded that car in a few years later.

As an Iowan, I wish Ernst was vulnerable but not buying it right now. Although the way Trump is wrecking the country, it may be possible.

It was weird enough when Trump start talking about dolls but he’s always going off on strange tangents. But to have grown men who want to be taken seriously opining about how many dolls young girls should have is just nuts.

You’d think that at some point it would dawn on the players that maybe they should stop shooting 3s. But I guess every shooter thinks the next one is going in, even if they’ve missed the last nine shots.
comment in response to post
I don’t know why this is such a difficult concept for some people. If only citizens were entitled to due process, the term “citizen”would’ve been used, not “person.”
comment in response to post
The doll part is creepy; the pencil part is just weird. Who has 250 pencils?

Can’t believe the official White House account posted it. Cringe

I think it’s time for the dentists to forcibly speak out. This is getting ridiculous.

It took 20 armed men to break into a house to execute a search warrant? Why did they take their laptop, phones and cash? Either they are citizens or not; a laptop, etc. isn’t relevant.

I can top that. When I ran out of dryer sheets a couple weeks ago I just didn’t even buy any new ones. You don’t really need dryer sheets.

It’s like a USA Today article that referred to the Gulf of Mexico and said the US government renamed it Gulf of America. No, the government didn’t rename it, Trump is attempting to.

I would think an NFL coach would know how to tune out Deon. We’re not talking about a high school coach being pressured to play the kid of the school board president.

Media does need to emphasize this when writing about executive orders. He can’t repeal an existing law via EO.

That’s what jumped out at me. His personal attorney is suddenly a JAG?

Why in God’s name would you include your wife, brother and attorney on a text about attack plans? Showing off? What a blabbermouth.

Basically, anyone who went to college did not return to my small Iowa town because about the only jobs requiring a degree there were with the school system.
