Brought to you by turning on the Michael Mann classic, Heat, for my first ever watch of that one.

"We asked the leading manufacturer of flamethrowers what they think about the mass protests responding to the surge in arson attacks."
Gee, thanks @npr.org -- super helpful!

People are really not accepting yet that the federal government is about to go on one of the largest white power propaganda pushes in its history, and they are going to wrap it in the historic Images of our collective past all while engaging in mass ethnic cleansing of American cities.

The Civil Rights struggle was *very* violent, it's just that the violence was almost entirely one-sided--in keeping with the expectation and comfort of white people. Those who faced down this violence deserve our praise, but if we would honor them, we'd remember that it was a very violent struggle.

People who talk with somber reverence about how nonviolent the fight for Civil Rights was should consider that those who participated would not have experienced it as nonviolent, and ask themselves why those brave people had to exercise such extraordinary discipline in the face of extreme violence.

I was just reviewing this very issue for a work-related reason and ironically, that Planning Dept site will not load (at least for me).

Maura Healey said Tuesday that the country has been "in the midst" of a constitutional crisis "for a while now." Still no word on what her plan is, though!
In fact, half the article is about her opposition to the Millionaire's Tax. I'm going to lose my mind!

Maura Healey could literally walk *right outside* the State House where she works, join a protest against ICE, and assure community members that she'll protect them from violence. Where is she?

What happens when there's a huge protest against ICE activity in Boston or Worcester or the ICE detention facility in Burlington? Is Healey going to send in the State Police to brutally attack our communities to help Trump and Stephen Miller implement their sick agenda?

Yup, like I may roll a light to get ahead of some giant truck for example.

And if you are upset about bike/ped interactions, it's not an argument *against* bikes but rather *for* better infrastructure!
Let's remember that cyclists and pedestrians are fighting for small crumbs of space while drivers get the whole damn pie.

The usual caveat that yes bikers should be courteous around pedestrians, and it can be scary when they're close passed, but I will not let people act as if we're talking about equivalent risks.

Drivers get hysterical when they just see a cyclist sometimes. Turned up for a work meeting with a customer once (on my bike) and spent the next 10 minutes listening to a tirade of how we shouldn’t take up space on the road.
