“Well, he’s the most stupid and evil man to ever occupy the Oval Office, but sure, yeah, let’s do that dumb little jerk-off dance he does. Fun for the whole family.”

I’m sorry to hear about your daughter, and I hope she leads a long and fulfilling life.
But those “covid cautious” people helped give me an extra two years before long covid stole much of my life from me. And if more had taken covid seriously, my grandma wouldn’t have lost two sons.

It also promoted horribly callous attitudes among those who assumed that they’d be fine if they caught it. I’m in my early forties. I was very high-risk pre-vax. I was told in myriad different ways by people I knew that my life and health was not worth their give-a-damn.

I literally had people telling me in 2020 that I was being irresponsible and selfish for not cutting myself off entirely from all human contact until the virus had blown over. The GBD may not have been official policy, but it still did a great deal of harm.

He also co-authored the Great Barrington Declaration, which promoted the “it’s only a big deal if you’re almost dead already anyway” attitude toward covid that contributed to hundreds of thousands of needless deaths.

GBD was a veritable Underpants Gnomes level of magical thinking.
1. Spread virus as much as possible
2.Old and infirm people cut themselves off entirely from all human society
3. ????
4. All better!

That’s a fantastic combo of sour grapes and self-importance.

It’s simple. He contradicted Trump in public. That’s what put the target on his back.

“It’s very simple, you just cut yourself off from all human contact for 3-6 months.”
“Okay. And what if that’s impossible?”
“Then it was nice knowing you.”

I'm a dissenter from the PC view that transgender identity is something that cannot be questioned and must be uncritically celebrated. But I'm also keenly aware that I haven't walked in another person's shoes, and being an asshole is not the answer to the question.

Does this place lean far more left than I do? Currently, yes, it does. But the thing I don't miss about the other place is the kind of casual cruelty that pervades everything there.

Some people seem to think that having a right to speak also means that others are required to listen and take them seriously.

I had a breakthrough covid infection in 2022. Spent two weeks feeling like I was on the cusp of needing to go to the hospital. Then 21 months of long covid. That was… hard.
I do *not* want to know how bad it would have been if I’d not gotten any shots.

I hate this timeline.

I love those types. “Covid is such a complete nothingburger that the vaccine is far more dangerous than the actual disease. Also, it’s a carefully engineered, deadly bioweapon.”

No, I think it’s a specific type of toe ring.

Reminds me of the guy who told me in 2020 that his friends’ desire to pretend there was no pandemic at all was at least as important as my desire to live to see my kids grow up, and I was being selfish.

I have some opinions that would get me labeled a “TERF” on these here interwebs.
That said, Nancy Mace is going out of her way to be cruel to a fellow human being who is just living their life the best way they know how. And somehow she thinks that’s something to be proud of. Gross.

I had a breakthrough infection in 2022. Two miserable weeks during which I constantly felt on the cusp of needing to go to the hospital. This was followed by nearly two years of long covid.
All the, “It’s just a cold!” people can go have relations with a cactus.

I was/am high-risk for covid (hooray for shots!). I had someone tell me on Twitter in 2020 that my desire to live to see my kids grow up didn’t deserve any more weight than others’ desire to pretend that the pandemic wasn’t happening.

Ah yes, those incredible policies of months of self-aggrandizing dithering, eventually followed by siding with the Great Barrington Declaration.

There was that yahoo the other day comparing Trump to Washington. George Washington would have had Trump hanged.

It’s fine, I’m sure nothing bad could possibly come from people trying to mandate by law their own takes on various points of doctrine.

You did a video recently with Christians quoting that “no weapon formed” scripture about Trump. I realized I also had a scripture in mind related to Trump (“Who is like unto the beast? Who can make war with him?”) but couldn’t remember the exact wording, so I looked it up.
And, uh. Yeah.
