Disclaimer: I have opinions that may seem toxic to a lot of people. While I'm sure mental illness plays no small part, it also comes from disillusionment in having all the propagandist, nationalist bullshit America fed me turn out to be a lie. This is a racist, exploitative, chauvinistic culture.

Trump threatened to cut off Elon's government contracts but Elon can also cut off the entire Republican Party, which he has spent hundreds of millions of dollars to prop up of late. While no self-respecting Democrat would take a check from Elon Musk, not having Daddy Teslabucks will certainly hurt.

No one asked me but Trump is afraid of Elon Musk. He thinks Elon is smarter than him and because Trump gauges people by their net worth, he basically sees Elon as a kaiju for manifesting his own fortune where Trump has a string of failures and inherited most of his wealth. Trump held off for this.
