The art of the steal…

Brian Eno, as ever, hits the nail on the head when it comes to the selfishness of the wealthy. A 2% tax on wealth of more than £10 million makes sense and #Labour need to step up to the plate rather than being shit scared of the right wing media. m.youtube.com/watch?v=hh7C...

Phase 1 of hedgerow and tree planting completed! Thanks to @derbyswildlife.bsky.social for all their help with this from assessment, survey, obtaining the c.1,200 plants & helping us plant them. It was hard work but worth it! All part of the Derwent Living Forest scheme. Phase 2 to follow in Oct.

We have just spent a day planting c750 trees/hedging plants with the help of two peeps from Derbyshire Wildlife Trust. It looks awful due to the plastic tree guards, but give it about 3 years and we’ll have a haven for wildlife. Now gloriously knackered!

Finally, I have deleted my X account. I am hoping my blood will boil less frequently and that I can enjoy the analog world more thoroughly.

Disturbing and alarming in equal measure www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

What a load of old bollocks - Farage shouldn’t be allowed to get away with spouting this nonsense. The CBI reported just last week that the net zero sector is growing 3 times faster than the overall UK economy, & renewable energy is far cheaper than fossil fuels 🙄

Huge win! Government announces plans to open up the Land Registry. If delivered, will finally reveal more about who owns land in England and Wales. Read my blog post for more details & how you can write to the Minister to make sure this now happens: whoownsengland.org/2025/03/06/h... 🧵1/

Zelenskyy is a man of bravery and integrity - who the free world looks up to. Which explains why Trump & Vance cannot stand his presence.

This is a superb thread from a genuine expert. 👇🏻

TikTok ‘craze’ behind Peak District bad parking crisis

Trump and Vance bullying Zelensky was disgraceful - any right-minded American should be ashamed and embarrassed. Putin must be delighted because his asset has come good. I think everyone needs to realise that the USA simply cannot be trusted under this administration.

I think this is the closest many of us have ever got to seeing the real Trump. The only consistent thread in his entire unhinged rant was the love & praise for Vladimir Putin. Zelensky has more courage & dignity in his little finger than every member of Trump's regime & fan club combined.

The Zelenskiy/Trump meeting went wrong when JD Vance got stuck in so aggressively. US Vice-Presidents have usually seen their job as trying to be emollient; Vance, by contrast, seemed actively to want to stir things up.

Donald Trump has betrayed America. If you couldn’t see it before, you just saw it today.

Question Time last night was pretty fierce. And had to be. There's a deliberate effort now to shift the ground: towards appeasement, inhumanity and authoritarianism. Once more, we must resist it. We must fight hard for kindness. www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m...

What you are seeing this morning over the refugee decision is Labour alienating and offending its remaining liberal supporters without bringing any new voters onside.

I’m sure “DOGE” will be all over this.. truthout.org/articles/tes...

1. Here are just a few of the ways in which Starmer’s Labour Party seems determined to alienate its voters and lose the next election. As they pile up, you have to keep pinching yourself and asking, “what the hell is it playing at?” 🧵

This is what should be on every front page right now. What's happening in the US right now is an illegal power grab by a private citizen. IT'S A COUP. It's a digital coup. It's Musk who's leading it. The consequences are terrifying. And it's coming for us next. 1/ open.substack.com/pub/broligar...

Rev. Mariann Edgar Budde to Trump: "I ask you to have mercy upon the people in our country who are scared now. There are gay, lesbian, and transgender people in Democratic, Republican, and independent families, some who fear for their lives ... and the vast majority of immigrants are not criminals"

Fascinating story. Hard to believe the UK security services ignored this man for so long. Even more incredible is what Sergei’s guts and gut instincts led him to achieve. A thrilling podcast. I particularly appreciated the tempo, which allowed for the gradual build up of characters and events.

I see Nigel Farage is making vast sums flogging a dubious tax avoidance scheme. Those who actually love their country pay their taxes. They understand that without taxes we don't have schools and hospitals and the police. They certainly don't use their status as an MP to encourage tax avoidance.

This is worth taking heed of: www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...
