This being a Holyrood seat, in 2026 there will be Scottish elections and it is expected Reform will pick up seats on the ‘list’ - a form of PR.

With reminder that most Scottish courses are four years to Honours. These colleges will have close relationships with their local universities.

And murmurs from further education colleges (FE) about funding here in Scotland. They are vital in supplying advance entry uni students who chose to perhaps do HNC and/or HND courses in preference/as an alternative to the full on uni experience straight from school.

The past is another country as the saying goes and I think the US will not be able to go back after Trump. What follows?

I think the Starmer session was a set up for this meeting with Zelensky. Peel Uk off from Europe then attack Zelensky. Whither state visits and trade deals now? Starmer will look a bit silly walking into the Commons next week?

Softbank always seem to be on the wrong team (WeWork, etc) yet always also have loads of money to invest…?

Yes you did and it was interesting. No need for the ‘c’ word, though, in this day and age.

Well, he called someone a cunt in a recent post (Fraser Nelson) which is easy to do but does not help the conversation along really…

Ah, well spotted. Thanks. I stand corrected.

I also felt there at the time that there was a strong anti Sade movement towards a more authentic blues and r&b sound?

For all the road safety features and regulations, facts on road deaths point to some other factors - seat belts for example:
AA Charitable Trust analysed DOT data and found 43% of car passengers aged 17-29 who died in crashes on Britain’s roads between 2019 and 2023 were not wearing a seat belt.

Also, a couple of years ago before I retired I was teaching some criminology to social science Honours students and reflecting on The Godfather (1972) to illustrate aspects of the growth of organised crime in America. Blank looks. Noone in the room had seen the film.

I noted someone wrote recently on a similar theme that Wham’s Wake Me Up Before You Go Go (1984) is now more historically proximate to the Second World than to today. A random but arresting thought!

Superb film! And Clint so accurate with his machine gun. Remarkable, but not unexpected him being Clint.. still on the edge of my seat all these years later.

Can SNP back up to 37 seats be credible? What is the rationale?

Young people don’t want the MSM filtered news and opinion. i think, rightly or wrongly, that they are suspicious of it. They see Murdoch and Rothermere with a gaghold on the national press and wonder if there is an alternative. Hence the alternatives!

My apologies. I did not pick up from the thread that you had seen the vet already. My bad.

If this is persisting you really should take her to the vet to have her properly assessed and treated. Don’t rely on tips via social media, please - especially over the counter sprays which may not be the appropriate response to this type of itching and skin complaint.

Good. The Times is particularly negligent at checking their columnists’ statements when writing about the four nations of the UK.

Ugh. Parris is such a dullard at times.
comment in response to
post
The Times is frequently negligent. The recent Tom Calver report on crime used ONS crime date on England and Wales and just then said ‘this is crime in Britain’. As you know, there are significant and important variations across the four nations of the Uk. That was not acknowledged in the piece.
comment in response to
post
I think this just emphasises how difficult it is for national politicians in mid-ranked countries to present a coherent response to huge and sudden geopolitical events. The levers of power as they are sometimes characterised are significantly limited in some regards these days.
comment in response to
post
I agree, James, and the amplification of Reform is irresponsible, particularly as they have five MPs and no coherent manifesto for all four nations of the UK. Madness and some of ur better journos should know better,

Too many mainstream media outlets are amplifying the Reform ‘threat’ and by the way who started the Musk $100m story? Nobody knows. It has spread and become a normalised part of the Farage conversation. Crazy!
