I have Lifeforce on BluRay! 🤗 The last Cannon masterpiece I saw was Ninja 3: The Domination. Ninja ghost possesses lady from Breakin’. Action & magic ensues!

Don’t remember much apart from the opening titles (set to Bruce Springsteen..?!) I’m sure I liked it a bit at the time. Preferred Automan though. I have to say, a Cannon version of Knight Rider sounds quite appealing to me these days! Am enjoying exploring their catalogue on Prime…

Probably a fever dream…?

I do and I am! Very nice of you to play my local picture house.

I just had a look back through the recent ones to see who it was who might have made you think of me and… I’ve no idea!

Fair enough! Are you back home tomorrow? It’s Richard Dawson at the Glasshouse… (sold out tho)

Well, as it happens… I’m here mixing my pal Josienne’s gig in Gosforth tonight www.gosforthcivictheatre.co.uk/josienne-cla... Which will be weird & fun to do a show round the corner from where I grew up! (There’s also Still House Plants at the Star & Shadow…)

Oh hai there, from Gosforth… 👋 You up for work/football/beer/gigs…?

Aye, line-up starting to feel a bit more solid/classic SS now (was obvs going anyway!)

When was the last time you saw NLEV…? It’s not as good as I thought it was when I was 14…

I thought SI would be an enjoyable hatewatch, but it was mostly quite dull. I have never, nor would I ever, see the Stone Roses play live. I’d die of anxiety being in a crowd of likeminded people like that!

Stone Roses mythologisers are the worst. See also (especially) the godawful film “Spike Island”…

I get screaming kids in the playground AND the ice cream van (Match of the Day, usually) and neither are very conducive for doing sound work :-/

Yeah, they’re safe! But maybe doesn’t bode well for the rest of the clearout that I’ve stumbled at the first hurdle…

I’m very much leaning towards keeping…

Missed off Thundercats from the Alt-Text there, soz.

A major plot device in this fun proto-Home Alone French Xmas horror (should you not have already seen it…) boxd.it/LTm

Well that’s completely understandable & I wouldn’t defend the guy over that or anything. I think he knew exactly what he was (in terms of just being a tambourine player) & was having fun with it at the time. I’m sure the drugs won’t have helped him be any less annoying though.

Uhh, yeah, that is bad… I happened to do the sound for JG’s book event in Walthamstow the other week. He came across as quite likeable & a little self-deprecating, though not necessarily repentant for any past behaviours… I’m no BJM fan or anything though. Saw Dig once, no desire to revisit.

I can vouch for Southland Tales!! (Given your tastes, I reckon you’ll love it) OK, this comparison has now piqued my interest for Babylon. I didn’t dig LLL, but thought Whiplash was a hoot.

You’re right, he’s fallen a bit out of the spotlight. Three Colours and Double Life of Veronique were big for me back in the day. Only seen a couple of Dekalogs, probably ought to finish those someday…

Hey, I sent my Gumbies back, so don’t look at me…

Ah right, just realised that short is from the 80s but I assumed it was much earlier because it’s black & white!

I am newly a fan since seeing Jeanne Dielman & Golden Eighties the other week. Does this box have the short J’ai Faim, J’ai Froid in it?

Good selection on?

Yeah, they’ve got a bar in Old Eldon Square. Where Pet Sounds used to be!
comment in response to post
I think the Mouse is probably my favourite. Have you been to the Wobbly Duck yet to complete the animal-themed bar crawl?

Oh, that bit *is* the Roadhouse, but then they go off to someplace dodgy in Canada…
comment in response to post
Not the Roadhouse! Can’t remember if it’s named, but it’s somewhere over the border, innit? But yeah, it’s kind of the best music, right?

Confusing behaviour! Simultaneously sticking it to The Man (by not paying for Spotify) and The Common Man (you)

For sure, it’s stayed with me too. Hadn’t heard of it either until it topped that Sight & Sound poll. It’s on BFI Player, but I figured it’s one that needs to be seen in the cinema. Really didn’t feel like 3h20m!

Ah! I saw JD there last week for the first time. Loved it! How about you…?
