He/Him, if anyone needs to know. Bit of a renaissance man in terms of interests including transportation, science fiction, games, history, and maps. Heterosexual, but leave the -isms and -phobias behind.

What’s going on is a decimation. I’m seeing career choices changing in real time.
And yet, I remain hopeful that there will be a renaissance after this dark age

It'd still involve a recession, of course, but one that wouldn't be as devastating as the one everyone is seeing.

*Ideally* that's what happens. Trump gets booted by a freaked-out Congress (probably with hell to pay afterward), Vance takes office but is effectively castrated, and we're left groveling for a semblance of our position last year.

And the thing is, most of those goons have not even done anything beyond shitpost on Twitter. A few showed up to "defend" Tesla dealerships, but where did the rest go?

Well, a small relief, I suppose.

The thing is, even far-right circles don't like her. I remember coming across videos from Intellectual Dark Web YouTubers calling her out as being an airheaded asshole.

Very much so. A new order needs to be built and people are gonna rapidly do it knowing that they need one to weather the shocks.

Yeah, I'd say someone's rockin' the look.

They really just wanted to skip to the end. I swear, there's a growing general impatience in the air.

They'll make a run of trying to stop elections, of course. I don't think they'll cross that finish line in time.

I love your optimism and occasionally share it, but man, getting to the other side of this is going to suck.

Like, wouldn't they be taking to the streets in celebration and to harass their enemies? Wouldn't they be staging massive rallies? I feel like there's something amiss here and it's badly underdiscussed.

I think it was the whole "intellectual dark web" thing that made me realize "oh, a lot of these guys believe some really disgusting things they just don't want to say so in mixed company."

BTW it was glioblastoma, a worst-case, settle-your-affairs-now diagnosis that’s been intractable and incurable for all of human history. We have only in the last 2 years gotten any plausible results against it, using MRNA vaccines, which these fools want to ban.
My hatred outshines the sun.

The problem with leftist politics in the US is that it loves LARPing as being about life-or-death issues but is determined never to make any sacrifices proportionate to the alleged threat.
Now the life-or-death threat is actually real thanks to MAGA fascism, but the basic unseriousness continues.

The question is, how do we make it burst?

I give it decent odds.

Democrats need to do more to stand up to Trump. Agreed. That doesn't mean Stephen Miller saying evil shit is somehow the fault of Democrats.
People explicitly blaming Democrats for Republicans "getting away" with being evil is just a flavor of "only Dems have agency." It's a toxic dynamic.
