The only trivial thing I know about his inclinations in 1980 is that he was really into the B-52's. Whether that means anything, who knows. But I hope he would've cut loose and made some more high spirited stuff.

Yeah, the man was 40. His philosophies were pretty baked in by then.
That's not always the case—9/11 fucked up a lot of that generation—but I have no reason to believe Lennon wouldn't have remained a bog standard peacenik.

I always group Electric and the first Danzig album together in my head because it was clear Rubin was doing a specific thing in 87/88, but then The Cult split off and went full Headbanger's Ball with Bob Rock.
