How long did it take them to get there? The group dynamics on the ship must have been interesting … sounds like a good setting for a book or tv show.

Ok, thanks. Looks like I need to read your blog post and simulate some data. 🤓

Careless responding needs to be a decendant of both the outcome AND treatment, right?

5/ So feel free to contact Richard if you want to use the data or have any suggestions for how to make the Who Knows project/app more scientifically useful (e.g., ideas for additional software features, items or scales, etc.)

4/ As of fall 2024, Who Knows has amassed a vast dataset with 9,671 users! And researchers are encouraged to access this resource for a wide range of empirical inquiries and to contribute by submitting items or software features for future versions of the app.

3/ Who Knows uses a gamified approach where users judge personality-related characteristics of strangers based on short video introductions. Designed with user engagement in mind, Who Knows includes a responsive interface, feedback mechanisms, and gamification elements to enhance motivation.

2/ Interpersonal judgments are crucial in social interactions, from friendships to elections. But past research has often relied on broad personality traits and subjective judgments. In the paper, we introduce the Who Knows app, an innovative smartphone app designed to overcome these limitations.

Admit it, the sole purpose is to gain more traction here. Nothing can compete with pictures of babies, kittens and pups … except for @dingdingpeng.the100.ci posts.

Haha I gave you a Steilvorlage. Interesting preprint. I have only glanced through it yet, but it still seems a bit speculative because we don’t have census data on iq or personality, but I appreciate your effort.

It‘s a nice idea but I’m skeptical about attaining population norms. Samples are usually NOT representative even if we use large scale panel data (e.g SOEP panel) that contacted a random sample. Usually, more than the half of the people who were contacted do not participate in the panel study.
