It works in the same way as a 'virtual' computer works just like a 'real' computer π€π‘

Apologies, reading and walking doesn't lend itself well to reading properly.
Interesting idea to put things like CPU in the intersection of all 3, it is those things but made physical rather than abstract concepts

It is a tricky one. This may be down to the can of lager I consumed earlier but I'm currently seeing a maths circle in your venn diagram as a kind of nested circle that sits between representation and systems π€ͺ

...hang on....
Computer Systems, RAM, CPu, Logic circuits etc. surely that should be in there?

Not sure I might be tempted to go with 2 and move stuff like shifting into representation

That's incredible, living the dreamπ forgot to say earlier, I'm about a 5 minute cycle ride from being inside Epping Forest, where I work is also on the outskirts of a different part so I've got a few routes to join them up.
It gets a lot trickier in winter when big chunks turn into thick mud though

About here. I'm lucky enough to be able to make my journey to work almost completely off road and if I get out early enough I get to do some exploring.
There are some quite steep climbs here I've been doing reps on, it's very close to Gillwell Park Scout Camp

There are many great bikes (in pieces) out there. In train station bike parks, round the back alleys of estates and so on, that could be created if the skeletal remains of those abandoned, partially scavenged husks could somehow be set free and brought together.

Thank you. That will work! Say the answer to a FP binary conversion is mantissa 11001010(202) and exp 0110(6), the student combines them into a single value to get 110010100110(3238).
Int division by 16 gives 202 remainder 6!
Seems obvious now but I just didn't spot it until your reply π

That could work!
The available functions I've got are about 2/3 down this page and there is a modulus operator

I don't need binary, just need to convert all 12 bits into decimal (because that's the only tool the question has) and then try to work out the decimal value if the first 8 bits and the value of the last 4 bits

I can see how to do the equivalent of a 4 bit right shift to get the decimal value of the first 8 bits by dividing and rounding but can't see a way to isolate the final 4 but value from the whole value

This. But I always start with a bit about representation.
Decimal 10 is the same as Roman numeral X is the same as 10 rocks is the same as 1010 is the same as A is the same as ...

In which case I apologise for the slur on your name.
In defence of the OP i've got a clear memory of thinking "I'm going to stick my thumb in this cement mixer wheel" and doing it when I was not much older than 4

I know the feeling but I know some of the bits of your regular rides and they are pretty amazing. Can it be more like "everything else is shite but at least I've got this..."

In that case my apologies. That's completely fair enough.

You are clearly not just like a bad driver but if we start getting irritated by people who are choosing a different and slower method of transport in a space we are sharing then that's not good.
I hope we don't fall out over this because I do enjoy reading your posts.

I'm with you, we all need to chill out, otherwise we are the same as the bad drivers.

I don't know, I read it as a question about all "entirely normal" people. Like, is there one point where they will all knit a hat for a postbox?
It could be that, I've yet to meet a normal person but I've seen hats on postboxes so presumably there are some out there.
