As a Brit I've always thought of American prisons as more barbaric and inhumane... just bad!Zero or v little rehabilitation efforts So I looked up death rates in both jurisdictions... 0.06 deaths per 1,000 inmates in the US, 0.05 deaths per 1,000 inmates in the UK... Could do better

He has explicitly said that he aims to tax people with wealth gains (not income) of more than £10 million pa. The first half of your thread re income tax is irrelevant except to show taxation didn't work as it ought; but very well off people paid more, as they should

This last comments plus your descriptions of the tax loopholes and the need to close them is absolutely what Gary Stevenson has been saying for years! To suggest that he is saying we should tax people more on £200,000 pa, as you did above, or even £5 million pa, is emphatically wrong!

And it seems what Starmer did was commission someone to get the facts, look at the data and work out objectively what needed to be done and he has now acted on it. Something the Tories seem to have completely failed to do, and they claim the moral high ground. Utterly duplicitous twats. #newsnight

Serial entrepreneurs, one-off entrepreneurs, and very wealthy people in general, all of us ought to be aware that they only make (or lose) money because of Britain's education, health care, infrastructure, financial rules and *YES* taxation schedules. They must pay for their fair share of it.

Great news for most of us, shocking that it is as high as 38%, hopefully the majority of Americans, whatever their politics, won't suffer too much because of Trump's very deep ignorance

As a non-American, I'm confused! Do federal agents uphold the US law or do what US politicians say they should do?

How dare a judge uphold the law and constitution! What are they thinking? Your Great Leader, President Trump, has the undying love of all of his his people. I hear he's going to build a giant concrete head of himself above some carvings in South Dakota and gild it so that it catches the morning sun

Whether one of them is officially a Labour MP is almost completely irrelevant, though it is what people are picking up on here! Let's ignore the morality of allowing doctors to end someone's life, or prolong it beyond all bearing. Or carefully giving individuals autonomy to make their own decisions

Absolutely! Just a bunch of chancers

Cat Ferguson has been phenomenal, particularly for someone of her age, I hope she continues to live up to her promise and remains (significant) injury free. Too soon to suggest she may be the successor to Marianne Vos?

Isn't that very woke of them? Very petty

Can we blame the parents? What were they thinking: Teak Ty? That was bound to result in a serial killer, or similar

This administration is remarkably and monumentally stupid! OK, we knew that. But a great many Americans support their ignorance and THAT is a worry.

I'm 99.9% sure that many (definitely the obvious one) use your location, probably exact, to supply answers to your query. You may not have realised that you agreed to it, but you did! Change your settings to disallow 'location' use

Some years ago I was chatting on Facebook with a Croatian lady and an American lady - both long time friends. One of them mentioned 'bukkake'. I asked what it meant, having assumed a misspelling of 'butt-cake', a modern name of a turd? They told me to look it up. I am still scared by the concept

Not heard of 'furries' and assume it means people that like fur (eh? That's weird) Furies have a several millennia history but no known social media id that I'm aware of. Dare I look up the modern meaning or remain happily ignorant?
