I've released 15 TTRPGs. Most of them have terrible names. Here's what I did wrong, so you don't make the same mistake. Linking as a blog post, but also pasting as images in case you really hate clicking off-site (continued in thread). www.reddit.com/r/RPGdesign/...

This article of Kala Mandala is so lovely. Thank you so much @newmadras.bsky.social for your patience, for highlighting my anti-ethnonationalist art choices and for making it all make sense!

I'm really surprised that Good Society and Belonging outside Belonging games haven't been mashed together more. They seem to make a natural fit. BoB games would benefit from the structure of GS games and GS hacks would benefit from the moves that reinforce theme and character that BoB has.

This is a great story (about the dumbest thing)

Here's the latest from me! I think it's good, you should read and see if you agree.

Laws are rules violently imposed by the State. Violence discourages liberating food hoarded in supermarkets for any who need it. Conversely, game rules are collectively agreed, voluntarily engaged with, and can be put aside without dire penalty. They're small expression of free association.

#rpgtheory It might be tempting for us as game designers to think that games' rules "constrain" gameplay, or that gameplay "enacts" the game's rules, but I really think it's the opposite. A game's rules wait inert for you to reach out, in the moment of gameplay, and choose to bring them to bear.

THEME: Westerns (Weird & Otherwise) One of my first ttrpg recommendation posts that I put together was all about Westerns! Since then I've revisited the genre a couple of times. Here's a few games I'm excited about!

The Japanese game convention "Game Market 2025 Spring," which focuses on analog games, was held in Tokyo last weekend. I picked up some interesting Japanese indie TTRPGs there, and I’d like to share them with you. Unfortunately, I was only able to get a few this time.

Work in TTRPG? Until the 31st August, we’re running a survey for freelancers in the Table Top industry to understand freelance pay for TTRPG workers in the UK. By filling in this survey, you'll help TTRPG workers to set suggested rates for work in the industry. forms.gle/s8AxQRNQsGrG...

Hey you. Yeah you. That ttrpg podcast you enjoy would probably love it if you went and left them a 5 star review on Spotify today.

It should be NYT publishing stories like this honestly, instead it's us.

Daggerheart is finally here! The project was a huge undertaking with many incredible collaborators across disciplines, and I'm honored to have been one of the game's designers. I helped develop adversaries, environments, campaign frames, and more. I'm so excited to share the game with you all. :)

Rascal @newmadras.bsky.social shares his hard-earned wisdom about learning what works best for him as he schedules (and sometimes even runs!) games of Apocalypse World, Impossible Landscapes, Blades in '68.

Rebel Twilight -- a guide to reskinning Twilight:2000 to the Star Wars universe. Deeply, deeply unofficial in every way! The Galactic Civil War. Rebel soldiers stranded on a planet where civilization is collapsing. Tracking food, water, blaster charges. drive.google.com/file/d/1sgJt...

We're 85% funded! That's SO CLOSE to 90% funded, which is even closer to 100% funded! Check out the campaign, and get excited for two pocket-sized TTRPGs you can play right out of the box!

Not gonna lie: Sometimes I love dropping this fact on the table and letting it speak for itself.

Update: The next session, we spent one hour catching up. When we started playing, I said, as prompted by Jason Morningstar, it's ten years later, god is dead, things are worse. And then paused the game and asked everyone if they wanted to play a new game. We talked about it and everyone was keen.

Joseon Society is a setting supplement to play games of Good Society in the Joseon Dynasty of Korea. This is the culmination of two years' worth of sweat and blood; happy AANHPI month! missmyk.itch.io/joseon-society

this is a letter to the editor from a high school track runner who came in second to a trans girl in a race. her state house rep in maine started talking about it. so she wrote this: www.pressherald.com/2025/05/14/r...

This Realis article on @rascalnews.bsky.social is so good, it makes me feel like I'm back in Media Studies Class. Reading about games and art movements is so cool, we are lucky to have this! @newmadras.bsky.social knocks this one out of the park. www.rascal.news/in-realis-su...

This whole thread is a) true and b) gold, it's just this VERY LAST BULLET that I'm having trouble with right now, and that's personal. I am very much midlist! Occasionally I get a royalty cheque -- from twelve published books -- that pays the utility bill. It is what it is. But --
