I've pre-ordered Ten Sleep. I'm excited to get my hands on it! I love The Deading--it's really stuck with me. Delicious, literary prose with great characters and such an unsettling & relevant story. So scary!! His prose puts me in mind of Michel Faber's spookier books. Gorgeous, profound, terrifying

War is driven by pain and power. War is senseless. War is stupid. War is everyday people dying for wealthy politicians and profit. War is always senseless death, lives being extinguished, politicians crying fake tears. They don't care if you die. You are expendable in their wars. No war.

Would love an indicator light on my books that read, THIS IS LITERARY PROSE, NOT THE HORROR PULP YOU'RE LOOKING FOR. When reviewers say my prose is overstuffed and too wordy, without citing a single example, I know the kind of reader they are--the kind I don't write for.

It's weird. Publishing is strange. Second book is coming out in a week. Very proud of TEN SLEEP. Strange though, the best thing I've written isn't horror, but the Chicano fiction novel AMERICAN FADE. Yet, oddly no one has acquired it. Really is one of the things that keeps me up at night.
