Also, we pour our samples into Pyrex erlenmeyer flasks prior to microwave exposure. Don't put metals in your microwave, kids. Sure the lights are pretty and the smells remind you of forgotten dreams, but it could seriously damage your microwave oven

I work at a brewery and our samples are standardized to 20C. The instruments can adjust the temp, but to save time we nuke the samples beforehand. 15 seconds for 250ml gets us a lot closer to 20C without boiling off alcohol or destroying other components. I think 20 seconds works better, ymmv
