Dude's probably worried about ending up like William Henry Harrison.

Yeah, every year I have conversations with my conservative family members where they insist that someone is getting free college. Even my wife can't convince them that non-white students are all paying the same tuition as us. But what does she know, she's just a college professor.

By itself it doesn't do anything but, I think the community building aspect is useful long term. Things like get out the vote efforts or protests that might actually move the needle for people's state or local governments can be more effective by using the connections made at something like this.

At this point I think it's about two things. One is giving people something to do. Screaming about this with a big crowd is going to feel better than doom scrolling. Second, it's about re-enforcing the community. It's a good way to meet like minded people IRL and see where they gather.

I watched this happen with my father this year. He just kept talking about how bad the economy was and how the right was going to fix it. Thing is, it wasn't even bad for him. He works for my uncle doing construction on lake cabins. Business has been great, literally more work than they can handle.

2) This was 100% preventable. Almost every MRI on the planet is covered with warning labels that the magnet is always on and to never enter the room with metal. Even if there weren't staff around to warn them, anyone with a 3rd grade reading level would catch that guns shouldn't be in there.

In highschool I took a PC networking class. The first project was to build some PCs from donated scrap because there wasn't a windows machine in the building. We didn't have PowerMac money though, it was all blue iMacs. That's probably why I ended up going to community college.

Yeah, a couple years ago, someone in my town tried to build some row houses and the neighborhood lost its shit. Sued the city as soon as the first permits came though. Over fucking row houses. I assume they'd have actual pitchforks over an apartment complex.

I mean, we can't have a horrific eugenics war if someone doesn't start doing eugenics.

Almost certainly. On the other hand, my birth mother's family history is not great so maybe there wouldn't have been a significantly better embryo in the bunch? My bigger concern is for accidents like me. Growing up an accident in a world where planned kids have ideal genes....

My wife got a promotion and made more than me for almost a year. She felt really weird about it because her father was an ass about her mother making more money. Blows my mind that I'm "supposed" to be upset that my wife is successful.
