We’ve just launched the HiTOP Teaching Hub—a space to collect and share materials for teaching dimensional models. If you have anything you're willing to share, please contact @kathleenwreardon.bsky.social or @miriforbes.bsky.social Here's what we have so far: www.hitop-system.org/hitop-teachi...

The LEADING reporting guideline is now published in Comprehensive Psychiatry 🥳 See www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti... Or read the previous summary 👇

1/ Correction! 🚨 I found and fixed an important coding error in a chart I made. Specifically, the peach category 'lymphatic and blood cancers' in this chart wrongly included both lymphoid and blood cancers (C81-C96) plus some of its subcategories, meaning some were double-counted. Before & after:

I’m thrilled about this special issue — please submit your abstract!

Today’s reading exercise.

Version 1.5 of the #r-text package is now available from #CRAN. This version improves the application of pre-trained language assessments from the #LBAM-library (r-text.org/articles/LBA...). #mlsky #PsychSciSky #Statistics #PsychSciSky #StatsSky #NLP

1/8 Balance ⚖️ vs. Harmony ☯️: Two emerging well-being constructs often sloppily used interchangeably. But they’re distinct. Balance = broad life domains ⚖️ Harmony = relationships🧘 We asked 15,275 people across 154 nations to show it. www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10....

our department at Lund University has a position for a PhD student. feel free to reach out if you are interested in applying. lu.varbi.com/en/what:job/...

The tidymodels group has an #rstats summer internship position this year. The focus is on feature selection tools. All of the information is in the blog post below. We look forward to seeing your applications! www.tidyverse.org/blog/2025/01...

I really wish I discovered the {S7} and {cli} package before -- it would have really streamlined so much package development 100% recommend these tools for any package developers. #rstats

when the star on the tree is an actual star lol A NASA photo of the Christmas Tree Cluster 🎄

We received this beautiful handcrafted Christmas card from a student from Germany who visited us earlier this year... she did an amazing job capturing our cat! 🎄⭐ Merry Christmas, everyone!

Version 1.3 of the #r-text package is now available from #CRAN. This new version makes it easier to apply pre-trained language assessments from the #LBAM-library (r-text.org/articles/LBA...). #mlsky #PsychSciSky #Statistics #PsychSciSky #StatsSky #NLP

Better than bookmarks? Use R to save all your Bluesky likes in a searchable table! Bonus if you use generative AI: Upload them to a free service like Google NotebookLM and ask natural language questions to find that post you remember. www.infoworld.com/article/3623... #Rstats #R #GenAI #Bluesky

#rstats {lintr} finally got a hex logo! Thanks to @gregswinehart.bsky.social! And of course @hadley.nz for the initiative.

Hi folks! I know it is the weekend, but I'd like to quickly announance an update to {legendry} version 0.2.0: teunbrand.github.io/teunbrand_bl... #rstats #ggplot2

Hot day and our local echidna has had to take a dip to cool down on Kangaroo Island!

Let’s gooooo

In case you missed it, last October our paper "ELLIPS: An Ethics-Centered Approach to Research on LLM-Based Inference of Psychiatric Conditions" was accepted at AIES 2024. Let's dive into its details.

So many new followers!! Hi folks, nice to meet you all. 🖤 I'll introduce my core research interests by showing you some of the work we've done in recent years on the conceptualization, measurement, modeling, and theories of mental health (problems). 🧪 #PsychSciSky #psychiatry #statssky 🧵

Launched a new HiTOP YouTube channel to host some videos my RA Tash Turner-Cohen and I are working on. We've just posted the first one, which gives a brief overview of some of the limitations of the DSM: youtu.be/4Kwu_1oMD9U

After I just added @masharemskar.bsky.social, there are 10 more placed available on the first Health Psychology starter pack. Anyone missing? Please let me know! go.bsky.app/9Xfk7Wo

European Social-Behavioral Science folks! Last chance to apply to my Mediation, Moderation, and Conditional Process Analysis workshop in Ljubljana, Slovenia, 20-24 Jan. Deadline has been extended to 4 Dec! gserm.org/apply-now/

Hello #rstats, giving this side another try🤗. To kick it off, here is a great fashion item. A t shirt made out of more than 2000 hexstickers 😅 here is the making of and how you can make one yourself: blog.schochastics.net/posts/2024-1...

Denver gave people experiencing homelessness $1k/month. A year later, nearly half had housing. They also had fewer ER visits, nights spent in a hospital, and jail stays. The report estimates that this reduction in public service use SAVED the city $589k. www.businessinsider.com/denver-basic...

I want to agree but having some plan is always better than having no plan as far as analysis goes and so I don’t see the practice of registering as going out the window. I see option two with registered reports as another option to be a great balance moving forward.

🐣 New release: small-text v2.0.0.dev1 With Small Language Models on the rise, the new version of small-text has been long overdue! Despite the generative AI hype, many real-world tasks still rely on supervised learning—which is reliant on labeled data. #activelearning #nlproc #nlp #llms

My Simons talk on all the next-token & multi-token prediction stuff I've been yapping about is up, if anyone wants to watch! There're better versions of the talk that Gregor co-presented with me elsewhere, but sadly not recorded. He is an amazing presenter! www.youtube.com/watch?v=9V0b...

Excited to share our Registered Replication on whether Women are Really (Not) More Talkative Than Men (in press at JPSP): osf.io/preprints/ps.... The results are complex but describe a reality different from what the photos below show 😊. Kudos to Colin Tidwell, Alex Danvers, and Valeria Pfeifer.

I made a starter pack for researchers in probabilistic machine learning. DM/reply if you want to be added! go.bsky.app/DuCtJqC

one interesting aspect of this is the tension between speeding up some things (like basic use of existing tech to accomplish stuff) vs the slowing down of other things (like adoption of new tech and libs). who will win?
