The problem truly is this: Christianity has changed from "walking the walk" to "talking the talk."
Evangelicals changed the rules of heaven and people grabbed onto it because it's the easiest path: As long as you believe Jesus is lord and savior, you're in. Actions no longer matter. Easy, right?

4. It's ridiculous to attack all drug users just for being drug users. Judge people based on their actions. Plenty of people, many of whom you likely don't even know are using, use drugs and it doesn't negatively impact those around them. Why? Fuck if I know. But actions matter.

3. It's perfectly fine to point out that their drug use is likely part of the reason people like Trump, Musk and Hegseth do so much evil shit. Would they probably do evil shit anyway? Yes. Would they do it at the same volume? Maybe, maybe not!

2. Stigma is completely unhelpful for curing current addicts, but VERY helpful for keeping non-addicts from using for the first time. Look at sports gambling and how addiction has exploded since it became easily accessible. Weed too, even if the negatives of addiction aren't as societally bad.

I liked that Marino guy a lot over on Twitter where he was mostly taking on antivaxxers but it seems pretty clear that he's never had a family member who turned from a great person into a shithole once they became an addict - or if he did, he decided the answer was "I'm better than them."

The Venn diagram of "people who believe Ukrainian drone strikes on perfectly legitimate targets are war crimes" and "people who ignore the constant posts made by the Russians of themselves committing war crimes" is just a circle.

At least we found a justification for the fact the pro-natalists are trying to return the country to 1825.

Adderall is awesome when you need it for a medical condition! When you don't need it and take it anyway, you get Trump.

She seems to have a better perspective on it than the asian guy I saw whining about his rejections (who got directly hired by Google after his complaints went public)

“trans issues are a lib thing and we’re the lib party, now do you want social security to exist or not you fucking ingrates?” is a much more comprehensible message for the median voter

I'm so sick of media noises in public spaces- people using their phones without headphones (like you said), radios blaring, TV's everywhere and on (playing FOX or some other annoying station).

I hope people aren't being too dramatic, I mean this is our graphic for Eagles games and we just won the Super Bowl

Yeah, I considered that but that was an administration policy rather than a bill that was passed, wasn't it?

Definitely counts! Was looking for "most recent". The Republican Party completely abandoning the concept of acting in any way "in the best interests of America" dates somewhere between 1980 and 2010, so I was curious as to the last time they passed something that actually tried to help society.

Probably Mittens’ platform too tbh, but was mostly looking for stuff that was actually passed.

Yes to the second one, PEPFAR passed in 2003, NCLB in 2001. So looks like PEPFAR has the lead in the clubhouse.

"Oh so you like it when AOC rails against elites but you don't like it when RFK Jr. rails against elites?" is utterly brain dead and absolutely EVERYWHERE.
AOC is right that inequality is bad and RFK Jr is wrong that vaccines are bad. It's not hypocritical to like one of them and not the other!!!

Leaving aside the egregious comparison to Larry Kramer, RFK's ideas about COVID were treated as false because they were false!
He has spent his entire adult life promoting ideas that are wrong and have literally gotten children killed. How *should* we treat a figure like this?

I was thinking about this earlier today, when was the last time the Republican Party put forth a substantial policy aimed at making America better, rather than just appeasing base bigotry and wealthy donors?
I think it was No Child Left Behind (which failed, but was an honest attempt).

You care about policy?
Congrats, you're a Democrat.
Yes, we all hate this too.
