In this case, I would say it sort of petered out with both sides basically being shoe-horned into one loosely accepted idea and everyone moved on with their lives. To the point that I observed exactly that taught in our graduate neurpharmacology course introduction just the other day.

Well one side is deceased....so there's that (though their memory lives on for better or worse). I mostly observed that many folks thought this was an argument about nomenclature (it wasn't) and didn't much care otherwise and went back to the grind.

I was a trainee for one side of what some might consider one of the greatest science rap battles ever 😂. Did it accelerate anything? I certainly thought so at the time. At least I thought it was changing the conversation. I'm less convinced these days.
