Tr*mp wants to use our service members to throw himself a grotesque dictator-style parade w/ $45-90mil of our tax $$!! If there's $$ for a parade, there's $$ for Medicaid. Tr*mp is wrecking this country and hurting the American people so he can enrich himself + billionaires. It has to stop.

That's not what he said. Why do you insist on giving them more power than they have and using vague tweet as evidence?

Councilor Smith moves to amend the Central Albina settlement - increasing it from $2M to $8.5M. This comes closer to recognizing the true scale of generational harm caused by systematic displacement of Black families. I seconded the amendment.

You do understand that the United States Congress does not pass state legislation, right? In many of those states they had Republican-controlled state legislatures. You can't blame that on Democrats in the White House or Congress. There are tons of things we can legitimately blame them for though.

I would never mistake the Democratic party as progressive. They actively pushed down the progressive members of the party who have a compelling message and platform for the American people.

This is completely incorrect. There are pro-democracy groups constantly suing - and winning - to stop Republicans from gerrymandering and throwing out votes. There are tons of Dems defending election integrity and fighting GOP voter suppression.

This is why it is so important that we understand the context of the data we are looking at, so that we don't jump to erroneous conclusions.

I really encourage you to go watch my video. It's not inconceivable. In 2020, they went 100% for Trump and 0% for Biden. It's an orthodox Jewish community and they vote however, their rabbi tells them to, as a bloc.

Nobody calls medicaid "medicaid'. Short list: "badgercare", "star+plus", "medi-cal", "apple health" Name lookup tool: www.healthcare.gov/medicaid-chi...

Trump is a pathological liar. Something he mumbles in a speech is not "evidence". Sure, investigate. Let's make sure the truth wins out. But, do not tell people elections are hopelessly rigged. You aid the fascists when you do that. Vote. Vote. Vote.

I got this same anger when I said Kamala wasn't going to step in b4 Jan 20, Biden didn't have some secret plan, no recount was coming, that AOC wasn't dropping Easter Eggs in her Insta Reels. Please y'all, the stakes are too high to discourage voting and wait for a savior. We save us. It's us.

/6 if you are mad about the results of the election, and you want us to get out of this hell: 1. Vote, work to get out the vote, be an election worker. 2. Join a grassroots org and protest 3. Study how resistance movements work and engage in those strategies. This lawsuit won't save us. We will.

/5 Sure, let the lawsuit proceed. I said repeatedly I have no issue with that. But anybody can file a lawsuit, and just because one was filed, that isn't proof of anything. They haven't even had discovery, much less a ruling. Trump loves to file lawsuits, are those proof he is right on everything?

/4 people were really mad at me for making this video. I knew they would be. DeluBlue is comforting, and folks don't want that challenged, but when you tell people elections are rigged and there is no point in voting, you are suppressing the vote. And we know when voter turnout is HUGE, Dems win.

/3 I get that conspiracies are a cope, but the number of people who told me that I need to "do my research" and go to the ETA website (I have), overstating the claims of the lawsuit and drawing erroneous conclusions from the data shows a huge gap in our education system, honestly.

/2 it's also easier (sexier?) to believe that Starlink magically zapped the results then to fight against the very real ways Republicans have been suppressing the vote for decades: purging voter rolls, gerrymandering, suing to have ballots thrown out, creating barriers to voter registration.

Her lawyers are keeping her name confidential. She's referred to only by initials. I believe this is common practice in asylum cases?

Tell the immigrants being abducted at 3000 a day and the millions of people dying bc of USAID cuts that Kamala and Trump are both the same. Go ahead. Fascism has a specific meaning. Fascist doesn't mean "not progressive enough for me". I loathe corporate Dems, but they're not fascists.

I didn't badmouth Maddow. I was saying I really liked her opinion in this video.

Y'all constantly want to relitigate 2024 bc hating on a Black woman never gets boring for some folks. We are talking about what we need to do right now to defeat the person who is in power and installing a fascist dictatorship. You didn't vote for a Dem when the alternative was fascism? Well done
comment in response to post
Exactly, primaries are the places that we do that. Not the general election when the candidates are literal fascist versus democrat with some progressive policies.

If people refused to vote for Kamala Harris, because Liz Chaney endorsed her, they were willing to cut off their nose to spite their face. If the reason somebody didn't vote for Kamala, and allowed fascism to rise here is bc of Liz Cheney, they are the very problem I'm discussing.

Thank you! I subscribed to her YT a while back and am really enjoying the content. Thoughtful convos.

Purity politics is hamstringing us. If they are willing to hold the line, we need to be willing to stand with them for this one cause. We keep excusing the folks who aren't fighting fascism, the doomers, the do-nothings, when we need to be building an alliance of millions who will stand w/ us.

Someone in my comments said, "It takes a special kind of privilege to avoid building bridges in favor of walls." We aren't talking about a marriage, y'all. Or adopting their policies. It's a limited-duration alliance to accomplish one objective: defeat fascism.
