Optics matter...now more than ever.. wave the flag of your heritage absolutely but in order to sway the information (however slightly) : reclaim the flag. As an Indian I've also seen people dissenting against the BJP in be branded as "Anti-Nationals" with people harping on the lack of Indian flags.

we Reclaimed the flag and our sovereignty in a symbolic sense once again. As an immigrant, we should be proud of our heritage especially if we are targeted on the basis of simply being different ...but now the information space is no longer neutral..it gives deference to the far right

For the next 3 years anytime people would see a flag on their cars or homes there would be an assumption amongst normal Canadians that this was a Convoy freak...then earlier this winter Trump opened his mouth and talked about some 51st state nonsense...and suddenly the optics around the flag changed

If I may offer my view as a Canadian and child of immigrants: 3 years ago we had a far right conspiratorial movement occupy Ottawa, block major border crossings and block major highways in the Country...the symbol these people used to rally around their "cause" was the Canadian flag...

As a Canadian, who witnessed the Trucker Convoy co-opt the Canadian Flag into a symbol of far-right populists in 2022...seeing Canadians reclaim the flag earlier this year in the whole 51st State nonsense was uplifting to see. Advice to Americans opposed to this administration: Reclaim the Flag.

As someone of Indian descent I can't help but notice the parallels in how the media covers Trump 2.0 with how the press has covered the Modi govt in India since 2014. In his 11 years in power Modi has never had an open Press Conference with journalists. scroll.in/article/9294...

convincing the MLSE board in 2015 to commit to a rebuild after the Carlyle firing, imo, might be one of his biggest contributions to the team.

I'd imagine he's probably thinking about the Brexit style shock the global economy is about to be subjected to because of this person's nonsense.

why is the white house acting like the friend in highschool you would give your copy of NBA 2K to borrow over the weekend..and when Monday comes around they say "Don't worry bro"

I know officials holding a position in any governing group will always take the official party line. But the spin I've seen out of the White House this past week reminds me of this legend.

What do you feel the turnaround time will be for everyday folk in the US and other affected countries to feel the sting of these measures? 3 months? 6 months?

Man there was another Kirkland/Seattle area dev (worked on a rather famous Sci-Fi IP) on the old site who I used to follow...and apart from mocking the boycotts has several pretty bad fakes under a very thin guise of fake objectivity and moral equivalencies. Some people are just miserable

Was the Steele Dossier from 2017 ever fully discredited? I've seen a bunch of well known publications since 2021 state that it has...but recent events indicate otherwise lol

It really was special to have him share his contributions in the 20th Anniversary documentary for HL2. The passion and joy he had for his work and the rest of the team's work was still there after all this time.

Man, I remember liking a few political tweets the weeks before and leading up to US Election day. The morning after the election my entire feed was filled with the most vile stuff imaginable...like this was far beyond the realm of anything "normal" conservative discourse. I deactivated that morning

I think it's either a candidate for some mid-season revisions or the tifosi is just going to have to get acclimated with that much white on a Ferrari lol

a little bit more carbon fibre exposure for my liking but still really solid. Fingers crossed they figured out some of their upgrade gremlins over the course of the season. 🤞

You know Matt...a episode of Colossaly on the extended history on William Grover-Williams and Robert Benoist would certainly be welcome in these times.

This is such a wild thing to put on a tee 😂 . Early internet/social media was wild cause nobody quite knew how to use it. I remember people saying in the early days of Twitter there would be instructions on how to cook crack...considering what became of the site since not the worst thing to post tbh

their hearts were in the right place...but all they needed to do was a little search into the preferred candidate of the likes of Netanyahu and Ben-Gvir. Useful Idiots the whole lot of them.

The closest parallel i see the US going down, especially in the media landscape, is that of post-2014 India. It's not quite a full blown authoritarian dictatorship...but it's awfully close to one. scroll.in/article/9294...

Serious question Mr. Bishop...what is the logic for pushing these rules on drivers? As opposed to putting more emphasis on vetting what gets broadcast? Half the time when a driver radio does get broadcast and there is swearing involved ...I've learned nothing that would change the outcome of a race

I can never for the life of me understand why someone should ever get abuse for a driver someone may or may not support...I don't think you've ever gone out of your way to say you dislike a driver Matt lol. As for Twitter...the less time you're there the better.
