Brutal. Layoffs are a nasty way for a company to keep optimizing shareholder value at the expense of engineering experience.

TIL: "detach quote" is not the same thing in bsky as "unpin post", duh... but "detach quote" is reversible, at least for some time period

Lots of positives though: It's 100% remote with ~quarterly trips to San Fransisco; I have a strong team and plenty of opportunity to help the system improve; my manager is FANTASTIC; they company is proudly diverse and inclusive and not backing down in the current political environment.

It's been a whirlwind last few weeks, but as a followup: I'm in week 3 of a new role in a similar space, broader scope, for Levi Strauss & Co. From selling coffee to selling jeans. Really enjoying it so far, but tired from the learning process - new people, projects, acronyms, ways of working

I am playing the long game: I’m now a Kimi Antonelli fan

He’s onto something. That’s not something I go around saying.

I saw Jason Isbell play a half full Tractor Tavern in Seattle, not long after he was kicked out of the Drive-By Truckers, and before he got sober and before he started blowing up. It was easy to photograph the band standing right in front of the stage. live.staticflickr.com/2590/5842161...

That’s interesting. I haven’t looked at integration with the Zotero, but need to. For an e-book reader, I agree. I like a lighter weight reader that I can easily hold while I’m laying down in bed.

Yours will be much easier :-) take it to a car parts place (NAPA, O’Reilly) and ask them to read the trouble codes for a check engine light. That will give diagnostic information that you can search up possible causes. Could be really simple.

Oh I feel ya. Picked up my truck from a 60k (major) service yesterday and the engine died a violent death a few hours later 🤬. Dealership will probably need to buy me a new engine, which will take a long while to get done.

Freud and the Tree Frogs seems very very trippy

Good lord, you’ve broken me. I read this 4x as ā€œFreud saysā€¦ā€ and just couldn’t understand how this all could be

Super exciting news in Seattle rugby. I’m looking forward to seeing these guys at future games too.

I think you just need to send the PDF to an email address at Readwise

Yep! May I introduce you to the magic of readwise.io. It will extract highlights, etc. from e-books, webpages, PDF. You can also export them to other systems. I dump mind out into Obsidian. docs.readwise.io/readwise/doc...

They don’t understand community service; the common good; human flourishing. They understand loyalty to dear leader.
