If Saskatchewan were a country it’d be one of the top per capita emitters in the world.

Sask produces 4% of Canada’s electricity and 26% of emissions from electrical generation. Despite this, the provincial government is doubling down on coal.

Look people, no matter how much we destroy the Earth by polluting it with CO₂, microplastics, PFAS, etc. everywhere, and even if AMOC shuts down and both the Greenland and Antarctic ice sheets melt, the Earth will still be infinitely more habitable than Mars. Mars is a shithole and we're not going.

The report authors recommend criminalizing misinformation about climate science which is a cute idea except that Fox News is more influential than any court, more influential than the UN. They'd never allow an attack like that on their sole product.

I am a researcher in a field that necessarily challenges multiple versions of the status quo and believe us when we say LLMs make it *increasingly* hard to do that. LLMs don't just return the status quo. They amplify and reinforce the status quo.

Climate #misinformation turning crisis into catastrophe, report says. False claims obstructing climate action, say researchers, amid calls for climate lies to be criminalised, by @dpcarrington.bsky.social www.theguardian.com/environment/... via @theguardian.com #ClimateChange #infodemic

No new Queen City Improvement Bureau this week. Life stuff in the way. Will be back next week. #yqrcc

Just a reminder that generative AI is theft of labor and intellectual property, uses vast amounts of energy/ water, provides at best mediocre results (if not outright lies or misinformation), actually affects your ability to think over time (mind duh), and is in general a really fucking bad idea.

Is anyone in Canadian politics following this story and pausing to question who will buy our oil in 2040?

We already know what will happen as agricultural zones shift due to global warming (b/c it's already happening): People will blame Trudeau for higher food prices. Instead of adapting farming practices to the new climate, farmers will demand subsidies to prop up their failing crops.

This is the agenda for today's exec cmte meeting. Some stuff on there I'm interested in (accessibility plan, lift stations, budget process) but I don't think I have time for a live tweet today. Sorry. I'll have the show on in the background & will provide updates if big/funny things come up. #yqrcc

Looks like Regina's executive committee has gone on break b/c it's struggling to get quorum. Councillors attending virtually are having trouble connecting. #yqrcc

The thing about Carney's full-throated endorsement of things like AI tech & decarbonized oil is not just that we'll regret them in future (the kind of regret that will seize you like a black hole's gravity well & threaten to swallow everything even light & hope), it's also very cringe.

Not to let Carney off the hook for Bill c5 or Modi at the G7 but you know he's doing all that to appease Alberta & Saskatchewan. So. Like. It's a sop to you & me & our friends & neighbours but mostly the convoy fuck-os threatening a constitutional crisis. So… 3 fingers pointing back at you etc etc.

I see the playbook for AI profits is becoming simply to force AI tools on everyone then make them pay for the privilege they never asked for.

we like to pretend we’re the good guys, but we’re boiling the planet for short-term profit

There's a petition going around aimed at killing Bill 137 ("Parents Bill of Rights") here in Saskatchewan. You should consider signing. #YQR docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1F...

I can't believe they've actually made me feel embarrassed for the military.

CNN pondering how someone got radicalized enough to kill lawmakers then wondered what was particular about THESE lawmakers. WTAF! Answer to number one: TRUMP As for the second... these people were killed in cold blood and you are victim blaming?! Unbelievable. Interject your own expletive.

Councillor Victoria Flores is our guest on the Queen City Improvement Bureau tonight at 7pm! We’ll be doing a general council catch up. You will not wanna miss it! #yqrcc

The fact that mandating ground-level retail—which creates a glut of that product, thereby reducing its rental value—results in empty storefronts rather than storefronts full of lower-paying tenants is pretty interesting and appears to be common. www.axios.com/local/denver...

And when this happens, the Fox News pundits will literally use this as evidence that global warming isn't real, so burn more coal.

Hey… policing question for you… Nowadays, does every cop in your city drive around in their own police SUV? Like, one cop per cop car? Or is that just a Regina thing? #urbanism #policing

Some will try to blame Trump for slowing the progress of so-called "carbon capture" projects. But that's not true. This sector would have collapsed anyway -- since the projects were wildly overhyped and have massively underdelivered. They were always a bad idea. www.nytimes.com/2025/06/10/c...

There are no dumb questions. Only dumb councillors.
