I wonder, has there ever been more consequential mid terms? Trump will either be neutered or empowered. Literally, the world will be watching.

It is good to see that in the midst of all you post about you can still find some joy-it looks delicious

I am sure you know the sad answer to your question. In theory many people support you and Ukraine but the war has gone on for so long that each atrocity gets lost in the last one. Unfortunately the world’s attention is fickle and Putin exploits that reality and exploits his friend in the Whitehouse.
comment in response to post
It makes you gag doesn’t it to see all these powerful men (mostly) grovelling before Trump. And I believe that receiving this fawning attention is all that drove Trump to seek the Presidency. And it doesn’t matter to him that the adulation is insincere and that these people have contempt for him.

Thanks for posting this-rather a bleak news landscape these days.

I thought they already did? Wouldn’t this be necessary to have some control of their workload?

Is he the only one who doesn’t see that the dictators and autocrats of the world see him as a joke? He is angry!? They couldn’t care less bc they know he will do nothing but put on a performance.

Netanyahu does exactly as he pleases knowing that Trump is-what is the expression? All hat no horse.
comment in response to post
The U.S., read Trump, has billions of dollars of arms for Israel to drop on Palestinian civilians, so that Netanyahu can cleanse Gaza for settlers-but nothing for Ukraine to defend itself from a homicidal maniac. This will be the darkest age in American history.

Can you imagine a realistic scenario where Russia and China decide to get involved? Maybe armaments but more?

As a Cdn with an intimate relationship with cold and ice, it warms my heart when others get to share that experience 😂😂
comment in response to post
The good news is, I really don’t thing there is any significant support for relaxing gun laws in Cda. If anything, I think govt’s could find more votes in tightening laws.

For most of us Trump is an object of scorn, someone who provides endless opportunities to be mocked. But for the people of Ukraine and Gaza he is a dangerous enabler allowing Putin and Netanyahu to wreak havoc and murder people while Trump waits “two more weeks”. How far the US has fallen.

Wouldn’t it be difficult to dismantle and move the machinery involved in enriching uranium-even in 2 weeks. And, how could you do it without US or Israeli surveillance picking it up? However,Iran is said to have refined some uranium to 60%, is that kept in the mountain bunker and could it be moved?
comment in response to post
The thing is, most of us cannot even begin to imagine what it would feel like to hear a drone buzzing while in the shower- or anywhere else. Nor should you or anyone else living in Europe in 2025. But then, who could imagine the evil that is Putin.

Can’t do anything to help you but want you to know you are being heard. Stay safe

Thanks but I think that has already been established

I understood she was the target of abuse, I imagine I am like others, shocked that it was so pervasive. And I do believe her gender played a major role in the abuse. Many female politicians have decried the levels of toxic commentary they are subjected to. Key reason women won’t run for office.
comment in response to post
I understand she invokes strong reactions, but I prefer to think rightly or wrongly, still mostly positive. Did any leader escape Covid unscathed? Hindsight has allowed critics to sound off on mistakes made and to argue they would have done better. Her decisions saved lives; to me it is that simple.

I love this… but don’t think it will change many minds. After every emotional video of a person being dragged off by ICE-some who lived in, and contributed to, the US for years and years-the stock reply seems to be “illegal-broke the law” I voted for this. Not much room for compassion.
comment in response to post
In a seemingly endless stream of ICE/Trump/Middle East posts, it is a relief to see that normal life continues.
comment in response to post
I went back to look at the video and didn’t really see much in the way of scenery.
comment in response to post
Thanks that has been pointed out.
comment in response to post
Ok but if you post this to suggest how we could help someone being chased by ICE-having the car stolen sort of defeats the purpose doesn’t it? And, yes I get the Aussie thing but it wasn’t really the point.
comment in response to post
I know Green provides almost irresistible media fodder with her inane statements but would it not just be better to ignore her? We already know she has little to contribute.
comment in response to post
In fairness it has been 20 years since I heard an Aussie speak. But I have accepted my comeuppance for my lack of an ear

Should be a bumper sticker

Ukraine targets military installations while Russia fires on civilian centres, yet Pres. Trump cannot identity the villain in the war.
comment in response to post
Really? That’s what you took from the video and my response?
comment in response to post
Sorry, Can I blame it on poor audio?

This cannot be ICE- unless Americans have taken to calling their trunks ‘boots’ and in an English accent.

Not surprised-why deny himself the pleasure of tormenting the Leafs and their fans.

It is a good news story-especially when considering the continuing mystery of the two children out east. Still, there are unanswered questions as to how the child ended up in Ont.
comment in response to post
This should be interesting considering the number of no move contracts they have.

I am not saying it is not good policy to invite MBS, Modi and Trump, but it is quite a rogues gallery we have assembled. Include Erdogan, and Orban and you would have a full house of autocrats.

I read these stories and I want to be impressed with her but then I remember she has ushered in a reform of the Mexican court system which will, in all likelihood lead to corruption.

I get that his comments run counter to journalistic objectivity but at this stage it is heartening to see someone willing to stand up and be heard.

I feel I have found a family😉 I get up early as well-all I get is how weird it is to get up at that hour. Get an awful lot done when there is no one else awake.
comment in response to post
Maybe, but I believe many athletes are Trump supporters out of self interest-they are high income earners and like the sound of reduced taxes for the rich. As well, most, not all, but most elite athletes are inherently narrowly focused on their craft and probably couldn’t spell ‘fascist’.
comment in response to post
I understand that my not travelling to NY city, or Vermont or other non Trump hotspots, is hurting the wrong people, but Trumps attacks on Canada are also hurting innocent bystanders and so I, and pretty much everybody I know, will avoid visiting.

I just can’t see a world where Marner resigns with the Leafs. In a social media world, opinion regarding him has hardened and the level of animosity he would be confronted with would be, quite literally, frightening. Utah, L.A., Vegas would all offer a better environment for him and his family.
comment in response to post
Based on election analysis, less educated, or poorly educated Americans voted in huge numbers for Trump-should anyone be surprised he will do whatever he can to increase that voting demographic?
comment in response to post
I can’t vote for this woman, but for what it is worth, I think you all should. This is a voice missing in an institution full of old(very old in some cases) white men.
comment in response to post
Jennings, someone who I used to look to for a reasoned Republican view, could not be more smug or condescending to someone, specifically a young woman, who he evidently believes is unworthy of a serious conversation.
comment in response to post
I read these stories and I empathize with these people. And while I am not amongst those who say you get what you voted for, I am constantly perplexed that Trump’s support in these communities control be solid.
comment in response to post
Great, all you people with this TACO stuff are just going to make him feel like he has to stick to one of his ridiculous threats. The only thing that has been saving us from his idiotic pronouncements has been his predictable retreats. Couldn’t we have just let him continue the performance?
comment in response to post
This is not really newsworthy at this stage is it? Everyone, hockey fan or not, must have already heard that Marner is going to free agency.
