Yep. I don't disagree with the practice at all, I'm just saying this is being adopted here, too. If people are giving you shit about it that's their problem.

Oh for sure. A bunch of restaurants are doing that here too. Near me there's a burger place where their online system requires you to click an "acknowledge" checkbox for each item regarding allergens.

Are you able to ask them when you first take their order if they have any food allergies? Like "any food allergies we need to avoid?"

Met my end with my job just a few short weeks ago, too. With the company nearly 13 years. 😢

With one exception, this is how I always play single player campaign games.

Can't biologically relate (apologies) but I would put forth the reason is to keep #FML from ever becoming irrelevant.

Just read your post about Microsoft. Is it the end of an era?

I endorse everything on this list. *nods firmly*

I'm kind of surprised there's no mention of getting internally electrocuted when all of the energy from the cords the cat chewed in its life comes into contact with your internal organs.

I was wondering who downloaded that torrent from me. Now I know.

I watched it a lot, but I was a bit more than a kid when it was on the air. 😁

I was around 10-ish when I finally got to see the TOS movies, but I knew what Vulcans were, and back then I swore Spock was smiling on more than one occasion in that scene in SF Bay.

So relieved to learn I'm not the only one that thinks this. It's been my philosophy for nearly 20 years.

Honestly I remember the Enterprise D going to warp in the theme song (plus the theme itself) more than any particular episode.

There's been a lot of controversy lately with companies using AI to screen CV's, much more so with the career websites and effectively fake job listings. It's absolutely disgusting.

I do this with both of my dogs on a daily basis, usually several times. Too much? Try and stop me. 🐶

I canceled a service today to get a bunch of dimes back. Does that still work?

I felt the same until I met the lady I eventually married. I still don't understand the world, but I think I've realized it's either not meant to be figured out, or just plain isn't worth the expenditure of brain power.
That said, congrats on the one-year anniversary!!

I legit held off on using AI for literally anything because it wasn't self-hosted. Don't need anyone selling my queries for cash.

I ran Win7 from 2009 until 2021 and skipped the UI dumpster fire that was Win8. And even then, the only reason I went through with the upgrade was because of documentation on how to de-shitify Win10.

Probably not worth working for them if they can't even host a rudimentary application form, especially if it's through a career website.

Never got to own one, but I did encounter them again at my current job when I got hired in 2012. They had a few old machines outfitted with the internal 250 drives. One of my coworkers also had an external CD burner. I forget if that was USB or FireWire.
comment in response to

The original was 100 but they also released the 250MB version. I think the external drives were USB.

@tracebeaulieu.bsky.social got a can of Satan's Jockstrap mace mousse you can loan Frank? I think the situation is an appropriate use case for it. 😎

Like any tool, it comes down to how it's used. Unfortunately history will remember the tool, not the user.

It's fresh, it's raw, and in no way should you feel bad for it hurting. Even if you see it coming, nothing prepares you for the actual event. But accept my hugs, and take it one day at a time. Miss and grieve your friend, but celebrate and cherish what you had together. ♥️

It's pretty much a clone of TeamViewer and AnyDesk but, near as I can tell at least, it doesn't have the commercial usage headaches despite having paid options.
