Cannot overstate how weird it is to be in Belfast, in May, and just throw on shorts and T-shirt in the morning without checking the weather forecast.

this is not an exaggeration

the thing is, ‘concern’ about immigration is directly proportional to how much media coverage is focused on immigration, so even assuming Labour reduce the absolute numbers by 2030, the only way that it will make voters happy is if the press decide it should

Feck it, I'm putting my shorts on.

The average person will be less "40% poorer" and more "a starving refugee displaced by the wars over the remaining habitable zones of Northern Europe".

I once again find myself wondering what this country would look like today if the Green Party had been given even half the media attention that Farage’s various vanity projects got over the last ten years.

I love how on Google Discover extremely niche topics are still served up in clickbait format.

Just saw an unnecessarily large moth. #moths

I haven't mowed the lawn and I like it the way it is. Today's daisies and dandelions.

I hadn't realised just how worn and scratched the coating on my glasses had got. I've just put on an old pair and the prescription isn't *quite* right but they are so much more contrasty compared with what I'm used to that the whole world looks like a wildly over processed photo to me right now.

I love him I must marry him.

Happy Cheap Chocolate Christmas to all who celebrate.

Arrest quotas; armed, masked men who do not identify themselves; targets being 'disappeared' without any process. At the risk of understatement, this does not end well

FILM REVIEW: El Conde (2023, Netflix). Horror / black farce of sorts, with a totally unhinged but weirdly compelling premise, a sort of Chilean Death of Stalin but with vampires. Beautifully shot, scored and acted but tonally all over the shop and the satirical elements are rather ham-fisted.

Fascinating. Do read.

Sign of the times: new phone has just been delivered, five generations advanced from the one I'm currently using, and I can't even be bothered to open the box.

We're doing "Active April" activity tracking in work and I'm finding it quite demoralising to confront that my running speed is basically only twice as fast as my walking speed.

Narrator: there was no push back.

Odd choice for Mothers' Day, but a total classic; do watch.

Spotted this sign at a church. I can confirm the logic is watertight.

The editor of the Atlantic is going to end up in prison "for espionage".
