Things that make me feel old. That's me at the back with the white top.

Still experimenting with covers

#pretendpanrl June 7 It's hard to say. I'm still very proud of my first novel, The Writing Machine. I can still reread it and love the characters. I feel it has great emotional depth, complex themes but is still a good read. It's tender and funny, and all of it crafted with care.

#QueerPrompts June 7 Archibald was the only man who had made Daryl feel ashamed of his professions. His revenge was to make a porn serial parodying the project Archibald was working on, landing humans on Mars. The serial became very popular and irritated Archie more than Daryl had anticipated.

#WIPSnips June 7 I have to skip back yyo "Music the Devil Cannot Hea" for this one.

#pretendpanel June 6 To narrate an audio book of Music the Devil Cannot Hear. I'm working on Morris Minor on the Moon, a light-hearted romance. My other project is to write a novel I started when I was 9, about a group of people who steal a paddle steamer for one last trip before it is scrapped.

#LGBTQWriteAThon June 6 Daryl is also a little bit me. Brodie is inspired by a guy who smiled at me from a beat-up Pontiac Firebird at a petrol station.

#QueerPrompts June 6 Lord Marchand is proud that he is widely hailed as a scientific genius, although he couldn't tell you what the rows and columns represent on the periodic table and thinks that Newton's Law of Gravitation is "What goes up must come down."

Very rough sketch of a possible cover for the WIP

It's #VolunteersWeek! This week reminds us all to take a moment to say thank you to the volunteers who dedicate their time to volunteering for the LGBT+ Sector. 1/2

#LGBTQWriteAThon Jun 5 Weird comps. Since I visit the erotic charge of being under the control of the villain quite a lot, I am interested in how often this theme crops up. Chrisabel (Coleridge) Dracula (Stoker) Camilla (Le Fanu) Trilby (Du Maurier) The Magician(Maugham) Casino Royal (Fleming)

#LGBTQWtiteAThon June 4 Not that I'm comparing myself, but as a Tarot themed modern fantasy about characters with everyday problems and the occult power structure. Tim Power's Last Call and my queer modern fantasy, The Four Curses of Thomas Halyard.

Your most ‘imperfect’ and amateur art made with soul and effort will ALWAYS be better than a generated slop image. A cover with a title and no art will always be better than a generated slop image. A few typos will ALWAYS be better than ChatGPT. Give me your human art. Always.

#ComJunity 5 At the start of the book, Archibald has fallen for an elaborate scam and has lost $40M of his boss's money and must somehow remedy the situation before his boss finds out.

Restore my faith in humanity’s love of the arts, please. Comment or quote with anything you love about art or books or music or narrators or video games (or share yours 🤍). Tell me that you’ll never ever ever ever knowingly pay for gen AI’s soulless slop. I need hope. Please 🥺👉👈

1/2 Random memories. In Canberra, there was an experimental filmmaker who made a film called "Fire" that was just 30 minutes of fire. The dramatic ending was supposed to be the screen catching fire and burning up. /2

Writers, name five of the authors who most impacted your writing style or philosophy: JRR Tolkien CS Lewis Libba Bray Ken Follett Lemony Snicket

#QueerPrompts June 4 New WIP. Archibald Frye is proud that he is the technical director of the first project that will land humans on Mars without incinerating them. Daryl Hutton is proud of his Golden Dildo for services to the hard-core gay porn industry. They're both proudly gay.
