Watched An Officer and a Gentleman this evening for the first time. Not the film I was expecting (the famous ending with Joe Cocker and Jennifer Warnes slaughtering a decent tune is not really in keeping with the rest of it, which plays more like slightly diluted New Hollywood).

Some of y’all can’t handle 2 high agency males going at it and it really shows

hahahahahahahahahahhahahahahaha (breath) hahahahahahaha

forcing JD Vance into the middle of this against his will is such an incredible bonus

From the BBC report. The main problem with this is that I just can’t decide which gif of someone eating popcorn is the best one to use.

What could possibly go wrong?

First up this morning…

This is not news, it’s a scene in the next Wes Anderson or Jean-Pierre Jeunet film.

Watched the highlights of the National League play off final… pleased for Micky Mellon, Nors, Manny and Caprice (who was injured). Have so many good memories partly thanks to those four. I’ve never been arsed about the Tranmere-Oldham rivalry, so I’m glad to see them back in the league.

First up this morning… Seasons by Pete Jolly Not a big fan of coloured vinyl, generally – part of me will forever be a no-nonsense northerner raised on a diet of 1980s wrestling, Findus crispy pancakes and black vinyl being the ONLY choice available – but this amber release makes my knees knock.

New and old music by Adrian Sherwood and Auntie Flo and ganavya and Panda Bear and Baby Rose and Sault and Dizzy Gillespie and Archie Shepp and Cedric Brooks and more…

A few videos of Leftfield from last night…

Not as much time for music as I’d have liked this week, but loving this at the moment – the expanded version of An 424 by Trá Pháidín on @hivemindrecords.bandcamp.com Fantastic mix of Irish folk, jazz and post-rock by a Conamara-based nine-piece band, all apparently about the 424 bus route.

Charity shop gold… but I passed

Nice walk in Ashdown Forest this morning… here are some trees.

New mix at www.mixcloud.com/pstudonym/al... Featuring new/newish music by Little Barrie & Malcolm Catto, Peace Flag Ensemble, Cassie Kinoshi’s seed, The Lewis Express & Chip Wickham, and more. Plus old music by Weather Report, Lonnie Smith, Art Ensemble of Chicago and others.

Unfest is on in #tunbridgewells this weekend… always a good time, free live music across various venues. Will try and get down to the Forum on Saturday night, the line-up looks decent, although all the guaranteed entry tickets have now gone. Hopefully a bit on Sunday with the kids, too. unfest.co.uk

Happy Stereolab release day to all those who puncture in the radax permutation.

I hope that someone at VEVO is on the phone to Richard Ashcroft’s manager or label, excitedly blathering on about the number of hits the video’s getting, blissfully unaware of what is actually being said about it.

Well this is a bit depressing. It’s getting harder and harder to make a living and it worries me. Please have a look and repost. www.gailmyerscough.co.uk

Years ago I enjoyed The Accidental, but haven’t read anything by Ali Smith since. What should I go for? The Seasonal quartet? I often see them in libraries and bookshops, but if anyone can recommend other novels by her, please do…

No thanks, I found one in the end

Tottenham always win a trophy in a year when the year ends in 2025 and it’s Ange’s second year in charge and Ossie Ardiles is still alive and someone, somewhere hums a Chas n’ Dave song.

Best days behind him, but great to see Son pick up a trophy.

96 passes so far by Spurs 😳

Stupid busy work day… now I want a beer. Will not be pouring any of it out for George Wendt, though, as Big Norm Peterson would surely have preferred it all to be drunk.

RIP to the very best, the absolute GOAT

Actually went onto YouTube to find and share this by James Massiah, which is great, but ended up watching old Partridge clips for ages youtu.be/NleBtE4nyZE?...
