Did we learn nothing from revenge of the nerds? A wronged nerd can justify any act of retaliation.

I really like what you're doing here and centering the discussion about it's very real impact on you and your teaching. There may be space to acknowledge how vulnerable writing can be and that that's where a lot of the growth takes place. AI risks nothing. AI only wants to consume and be consumed.

I’m sorry to put it this way, but high school and college term papers, 99 percent of the time, have little value as completed work. They will never be remembered or read again. Generating them, in and of itself, is worth essentially nothing, particularly when they recapitulate existing work.

Particularly the idea of paying to go to college and then using an LLM to write your papers is throwing your money down a well. If you don’t want to do school, don’t do school! But don’t go into debt to learn nothing and end up with a stack of papers that almost seem believable.

If you need any sources on AI being shitty, I've been collecting and compiling them: docs.google.com/document/d/1...

What I feel good about is how tax season is a reminder that we're all in this together. Rich, poor we're all paying what we can to provide services that lift us all up. Really, what is the point of living in the richest nation on earth if that wealth isn't used for good? Just like Jesus said.

That was a plot over character moment if ever I saw one. For someone so intuitive about all the pain Goggins was suppressing, she sure missed the boat when it rose to the surface and he was literally pleading for help.
