Quick Summary -
DOGE Savings = $150B
DOGE Cost = $145B PLUS federal government legal fees to defend against dozens of lawsuits contesting DOGE’s authority.

The Diversity Supplement was already awarded and funds are still being drawn. So, I’m not sure if there is an inherent conflict. I’m not sure this directive applies to SBIR/STTR awards, but I assume it’s intended to be as broad as possible.

That also implies that a future non-MAGA president could claw back or deny funding if companies/universities refused to implement DEI programs or had joint programs with countries this White House prefers. The back and forth of endless retribution would be like shaking a bird in a cage.

Dug into this a bit. It would be hard to apply this for companies with previously awarded Diversity Supplements for a number of reasons. Of course, why would that stop them from trying? If so, the government would effectively be stripping companies of how they conduct business... Very anti-liberty,

Let's say my effort has been awarded a Diversity Supplement. Does this imply that I must cancel that award in order to accept the award?

Having received an award from the NIBIB, I can say the institute is one of my least favorite due to limited budget, low award success rates, and unclear scope.

June 3rd meeting too.

I hear they are getting gutted. Maybe they are being rolled into another institute and can't provide official guidance? Sorry. I wish I could have been helpful. As a plan B, you could look in NIH RePORTER, find a few well-funded efforts with a similar focus, and call them for advice.

Wow. What institute?

Thanks. 1) Did you try a phone call? They have more freedom there. 2) The PO is probably overworked and has not time. Try asking a different PO? 3) Do you have an ally at the NIH? If so, reach out to them, then CC them to emails to the PO if they are OK with it.
The NIH is a mess. It sucks.

So you were asking for (standard) guidance, and they said “no comment”? Or are they refusing to release the Summary Statement?

Do you Summary Statements?

Given how outspoken you've been (thank you for that), do you think the university's action could be to related to purging opinions that could increase the risk of their funding being "paused"? Regardless, sue the crap out of them.

FYI, there is a well-known restaurant in Louisville by Chef Edward Lee called "610 Magnolia." He was on the Korean show Culinary Class Wars. Fun show.

This is a bit tangent to this thread, but there have been no new NIH Funding Opportunities or Other Notices since 1/22/2025 (minus the infamous 2/2/2025 notice about a change in the indirect rate). @jeremymberg.bsky.social , do you have any intel on when postings might resume?

For grant awards, do your numbers include SBIR/STTR awards as well? Thanks for your dedicated efforts on this!

Does this relate to Diversity supplements?

Our NINDS Advisory Council Meetings date was updated yesterday on ERA Commons. It originally said "2/10/2025", but that meeting likely never took place. The new date says "4/10/2025". Interestingly, I don't see a corresponding posting to the Fed Reg.

I’m curious. When you start a novel, do you have a good idea how it will end? If yes, how often do you stick the landing?

Thanks. Our NHLBI application still has a status of "pending." Fingers crossed.

Just curious, how can you discern if this is a council meeting?

Agreed. 46 new posting for closed meetings today. Maybe there is an order for posting meetings?

I hate to ask, but are you able to post the summary blurb?... I am super lazy.

FYI, may be some double counting (e.g., "R01MD016082" assigned to Washington University).
