If it is the new system I'm thinking of, I'm impressed he managed to get two. They apparently already broke a previous preorder record for a whole country just through one website.

I don't really follow the logic here. If we're talking about understanding whether a game is good or not, we have so many reviewers now (including user reviews) that you can get a good idea if you'll like a game or not so long as you read carefully. You couldn't rent every game.

Current and latest avatar. The pictures are technically out of date (got rid of the rings around the right ankle) but otherwise representative.

I play on my desktop PC as I have a super wide monitor to do the writing, have the character sheet up, and have a PDF open all at once. I otherwise have a dice tray or a deck of cards next to me.

Paying to upgrade Mario Party and Kirby makes sense as you are getting more gameplay (I don't know the upgrade price.) But Zelda doesn't seem worth it.

And I'm using my main fursona because I have actually had dreams about being my avatar before. (Too much VRChat.) Hopefully at the end I'll have a good clubbing and public hangout avatar.

However, I am enjoying the direction it is going. Where Somna seems to be taking some themes from middle-eastern clothing (at least, my guess,) I'm trying to lean more Japanese because: a) I've literally had dreams about Japan b) I'm missing Furality because I'm going to Japan.

And to comment on the avatar itself, it is a HUGE work in progress. The shirt and pants are placeholders for actual pajamas, the mask is needing some work for texture and animations, the arm warmers still need to be textured, redoing the leggings, and then optimization & clean-up.

To be clear, I'm going to miss it due to a planned vacation and I was near certain this was going to happen during last Furality. I'm just a bit bummed it was a theme I would have been all over.

Oh shoot, I just randomly realized that I don't actually have a lot of recent pictures (at least, that aren't test pictures.)

Not really "cringy" (yet at least,) but I've always enjoyed canines actively using swords and other weapons in their mouths. Also love "unapologetic" fantasies where the lore isn't based off of real world events and it is "weird" compared to mainstream stuff.

I definitely tend to steer away from combat in solo versus group, at least with systems that are playable in both. Group systems tend to have crunchy combat that it is difficult to keep up when it is just you (almost as if it is assumed that there's a group playing.)

Understood. (As soon as I finish that hunter/armored fantasy avatar.)

A new character each time. I'll have too many build ideas to warrant sticking with one character, let alone coming up with character variants for the same build. That said, I could see bringing a character back if I didn't play them enough.

I mean, you got to wear something to keep that AC up. (Though I guess once you get a DEX of +5, you only need to wear just enough for the runes to properly fit.)

Like the lizardfolk? 2e.aonprd.com/Ancestries.a... There is also the minotaur, who has a horn attack. 2e.aonprd.com/Ancestries.a... Nephilim can technically have horns, but not the attack. There are a few weird options for PF2e, but it might be difficult if your GM is being restrictive on rarity.

Speaking as someone who isn't fond of medieval fantasy guns for TTRPGs in general, my fear is that players will try to rule of cool their way to being OP else make a big joke out of it versus something mechanically interesting. (Pathfinder's fine because there are clearly defined rules.)

Mainly just getting into something I used to love doing some time ago but stopped for real life stuff.

I've suddenly got back into making Pathfinder 2e character builds, which is probably a good sign for me at least. Last two builds were a werewolf ranger (interesting but need to check RAW stuff) and a spirit warrior monk (needs work but humorous.)

Wait, would ace (& aro?) be the special "unaligned"? (I can't remember if the original alignment chart allowed no alignment.)

Idea is that PCs are like anime characters who have been beaten up and will fall at any moment, but still press on. NPCs don't have this ability maybe save a major boss, they'll have normal HP like most systems.

The values A, B, C are also something the GM could tweak for their game and I'm also trying to keep those vague to mess with (already thinking of changing the base stats.) I'm thinking a 30% threshold, 10% floor, and 10% penalty per point (I'm targeting max HP stat to be ranging from 90-170.)
comment in response to post
On the flip side, I did come up with an interesting idea for HP. It is a skill you roll when you take damage and it falls below A%. If you pass, you remain standing, else you fall. HP can't fall below B%, but you struggle to stand at that point. Then each point of damage is C% penalty.

One thing I do know is that I want clear, labeled levers for GMs to pull to run the game that helps them and their players. I also want everything to be the same as much as possible: roll a d% and get a number under your score with modifiers working the same way.

What I should probably do is understand what I need this system to do. Is combat frequent or should it be rare? What will combat look like? Will character builds be involved or simple? Limited customization or free-for-all? Are there party roles? Do I even want level ups?
comment in response to post
Figure out what I want to play on a mechanical level and what my limitations are. Once I have a rough build going, I can start weaving an actual character around it and the campaign.

Thus far, I have: Human Shield Magus - Front line + Int Knowledge Kholo Kineticisit - Medic + Wis Knowledge (note: yes, Cleric and Druid are better.) Kitsune Sorcerer - Party Face + Arcane And plan is one more front line, debating between Ranger, Monk, or Swashbuckler for thievery.

Physical books (iffy on deluxe versions) and anything specialized for the game such as a tracker or really funky dice get me to upgrade. I already have everything I need to run most games else I want something a bit generic, so I'm rarely interested in branded ones. (Grant, I'm not a dice goblin.)

10 minutes isn't all that bad, especially when it is more for you mental health.

Graaaaaant, the actual answer is to probably just GM. Not like I have two friend groups that might be interested in a short campaign.

By chance, have you looked deeply in any of the mentioned systems? Because you're also making vague arguments that somewhat imply that the balance discussions you've had has exclusively been around 5e, which really is a poorly balanced system to begin with.

I'm a massive fan of Mythic 2e when checking the tables and the extra bookkeeping isn't too much of a burden (if it doesn't actually end up being beneficial.)

Yeah, the enemies tend to be overturned at even normal settings.

WotR is based on PF 1e. Still fun with a cool story, but yeah the difficulty is a bit too much by default.

D&D 5e. While a good amount of blame is on my players, I just did not have have fun GMing it. I distinctly remember saying at one point, "I read it in the DM Guide, please do not make me open that cursed thing." Running Rhyme of the Frost Maiden didn't help either.

"So why do we need to hear this? Can't you keep this to yourself?" Well, I'm saying this to hold myself accountable. If someone knows I'm aiming for this, then I should try to do it. While I can't do much for now do to restricted social time, my goal is to start recording my attempts.

A "pie in the sky" goal would be a sub 8:30, but this is pretty far off. I pick this because Jimmy Broadbent did about 8:32 for a video with traffic and a car setup that seemed bad for him in the same game and he's pretty experienced.

I am seeing the fruits of labor though after some practice. Some turns I have a good idea what I need to do and I'm figuring out which curbs are safe to get up on. Last dirty time was ~9:26 with 2 off track incidents (I always slow down for those in anticipation of a black flag) and 1 spin.

So some context. I've not been sim racing in a long time and ACC is really making it clear that I'm slow. The 'ring itself has also always been a painful point for me as it was too long for me to memorize. The goal then is to learn and get faster on the track.
