I am walking around my city with a passport. We’ve been watching for weeks as ICE inundates this place. My Pop was frozen as ICE came down their block parading their unchecked power. Anyone judging these protests should think about what it’s like to live in the escalation of all this.

Deeply important right now. Please give where you can.

still, a good light update / happy pride

seriously. if we don’t show up to fight, they aren’t going to just kick rocks and go home mad that they didn’t get attention. they’re going to take our neighbors, take us, and do absolutely whatever they can get away with from there.

one of the functions of this is that those of us who got into tech during the halcyon days of “anybody can learn!” are ill equipped to give career advice to people trying to figure out how to make a living right now. “talk to people who have your dream job and see what they did!” simply doesn’t fly.

every so often I’m asked “what are you doing to take care of yourself” and how am I supposed to explain that the real answer is “muting the phrase ‘high agency males’”

I’ll put in a plug for the weird book of short stories I’m reading, which includes a grim choose-your-own-adventure story, a despairing letter from a narrator’s own right leg, and some of the most satisfying deployments of repetition I’ve seen in a long time www.portersquarebooks.com/book/9781646...

my pet’s name with a gif, huh

learned today that this honored elder has asthma (which is treatable but led to a half hour coughing fit last night) and a bonus mystery shape on her lung where one shouldn’t be. currently accepting benign vibes.

today I’m the one peony that’s still going, “no way. have you *seen* outside?”

I think I might need to change my “leading in times of crisis” materials to “leading in times of WHATEVER THE FUCK THIS IS”

PERSONAL BANK ACCOUNTS it is going to take so. long. to unpick all this

y’all, I got to talk to Niedekker about Louis Andriessen, a level of delightful I didn’t expect

local nerds, I just finished this book, which is both expansive and compact plus funny and weird, and I have a feeling this author event tomorrow at PSB Cambridge is going to be delightful. see you there?

finishing a book in the park at sunset: yes standing up and turning around to see a cybertruck: no thanks

some work days end with precisely enough mental energy to look at the sunset for awhile

this week’s farmers market flowers are filed under “do one thing and do it well”

okay, maybe just this one king

against what felt like all odds I just got an actual check in the mail about this. it is for less than the amount of my bounced paycheck from 2 years ago but it’s also not nothing. I do not have time to have a feeling about this and also I might not have a choice.
