oh man, comments have reminded me of a friend's story about her aunt's dog. Apparently this dog reached the velociraptor stage of development and parked itself there. Utterly untrainable. Went through life as a tornado of canine destruction.

For me its if it was still in use enough for me to have memories of using it then its doesn't feel creepy just silly. But if common usage predates me then its creepy.

If they have the best free model, then people will use it. Once people are using it in they can offer services to run it in their ecosystem. Additionally if they can drive out competition, eventually the free model doesn't need to be free anymore.
