Economists have also posited that a return to the gold standard would result in an economy that is more volatile, due to vulnerability to shocks in supply and demand for gold. Central bankers and economists are largely unanimous against the idea of returning to a gold standard."

A brief note from a much shorter article that you will, from your expertise, likely recognize. "A return to the gold standard would limit the Federal Reserve's ability to print money and constrain its ability to enact monetary policy during critical economic events, such as recessions. ...

You must be joking - putting out full book reading assignments. social media is about using a couple hundred characters to CLEARLY make a point. You post could have been : "based on this book, I disagree because..."

Essentially, Carrying heavy boxes of gold around to make purchases is ludicrous. Imagine payday at a modern office building or factory where the company has to have several tons for pay. There are practical problems with gold.

Hey fashion industry - quit changing every year. Also - quit making a billion garments for 100 million customers - them dumping the unsold residue as 3rd world trash.

FBI stats: Of 809,000 + violent crimes & 951,270 offenses connected to to them as recorded in FBI's National Incident-Based Reporting System for year 2022, 18 percent of perpetrators & 48 percent of victims were women. Um, very unlikely there are ~500,000 unreported crimes by women on men. Y'know

Imagine the west with a 30-49% reduction in annual water volume from the Colorado River & Great Salt Lake drying up as well. TX, OK, KS, NE have a depleted Ogalalla aquifer & reduced Arkansas river. ND, SD, IA have depleted Missouri. The trend is very anti-growth.

IMO: Russia is bogged down in Ukraine, has massive natural resources and a long coastline in the Arctic. EU could really use that. I think Russia would topple pretty quickly, especially to the EU. Many Russian citizens would prefer EU governance.

I'm pretty sure the "idiot classmates" will become absolutely cretinous criminals in a few short years. It is my wish that the "community" turn them in at the earliest possible opportunity for state prison to correct their poor parental guidance.

At some point all long term prescriptions will be filled by internet pharmacies. Hospitals and clinics will install "urgent med" customer kiosks for anti-biotics, etc There will be a massive wave of deaths due to contra-indicated drug combinations that will be permitted by #GOP_SCOTUS

Visit a landfill. I did for a community study on trash. Bags of clothing & cheap furniture were everywhere The truly "priced out" folks buy dinged up stuff from Goodwill, off the free-stuff page of social media sites, or the student housing move-out piles in college towns. #FuckFashionFirst

"Biological age" is an idiotic pseudo science term. There is NO agreed set of measurable medical metrics that define each age. 1x DUH ! working out is good 2x DUH ! eating healthy helps 3x DUH ! More sleep = good 4x DUH ! Stopping recreational drugs, alcohol, dangerous activities You'll be happy ?

Fashion industry is a major trash and pollution generator. It employs relatively few people in 1st world - most of whom are slowly replaced by technology. 3rd world sweatshops & mills churn out excessive amounts of garments that never get sold. We have all the clothing needed for 60 more years.

The disease of trumpism has 3 symptoms: - gleeful destruction for short term profit - lack of future planning - delusions of greatness America will fall to 2nd tier nation status. - hobbled military & national security - flailing internal consumer economy - broken international ties

WE HAVE EMPTY BUILDINGS Imagine abandoning the idiotic corporate return to office & evolving a better process to convert those empty office buildings: (OUTER/WINDOWS) living space (INTERIOR) mini-storage, mailroom/package-delivery, vertical retail space, fire/emergency safety rooms,

Those industries will turn to AI/robotics. But those who failed STEM education won't have skills to oversee that new workforce. They will see their "intellectual" jobs in sales-marketing, law-research, trend analysis, banking finance, writing, middle-management, etc. "replaced" as well.

Ultra conservative #GOP war on non-whites is a costly & pointless effort. 60 yrs of min. wage suppression have the following USA industries heavily dependent on immigrants: -agriculture -construction -janitorial -lawn care -healthcare/senior care -hospitality

Given that libraries are on the hook for electronic copies of books- for patrons to borrow - AI/ML should be paying authors for the data scrape and a monthly service-usage or royalty fee ever-after.

1) retail "therapy" doesn't work 2) you need fewer better things instead of many cheap things 3) learn to live with the stuff you have - if you aren't using it find someone who will. 4) occupy your time deconstructing things for proper recycle 5) get use to boredom, it's good for you

Don't worry. Trump's mismanagement will burn more than that, cause inflation, and explode the national debt. There won't be money for anything. Gas, groceries, building materials prices all going up. Better worry about your budget at home
