If it makes you feel better, on the other site, they're just mad at him for voting against Dear Leader's bill. That's it, that's all, obedience is a requirement.

Wash U? Scary stuff. It's scary enough where I live, in a more rural spot, I was in StL yesterday for a doctor's appointment, I cannot imagine being packed in a more urban environment during that.
And the kicker is, just a couple hours earlier, if was a beautiful sunny day.

Hah, not only do we know, we had 'em yesterday.

I was in StL for a doctor's appointment. It was a beautiful day yesterday! The forecasts were spot on though. We were about halfway home when the tornado ripped through Forest Park. And then when we got home, we had to take shelter because of another tornado

Ohhh, best I can do is lots more rain along with some tornadoes here. Would you like the tornadoes? If you have any land that need clearing, they're quick, but unfortunately they're very indiscriminate.

What the heck man, down at the other end of the state we may have just had the highest-windspeed tornado of the year rip through and y'all are having historic duststorms in Chicago. Oh, and St. Louis got hit by a big-ass tornado, too. Great time to have no FEMA.

I'm assuming it has more to do with how the US government is classifying refugees as illegal aliens and terrorists, well, except for these white Afrikaaners.

I live in the US Midwest, and that looks lovely. However, I have to ask: I think we were delivered your shipment of rain by accident. Would you like it back?

"How can they be fascists if they're not literally Italians from 1938?" It's exhausting.

For most of my adult life, the Democrats have been wishy-washy, yes, but they've also been the adults in the room. If you want change that might be unpopular, SOMEONE has to be the one to do it. Having Dems do it, even knowing it'll bring up Biden, would be a good show of goodwill imho.

Trump's already been impeached twice. They know the Senate won't vote to remove, at least not yet; they'll probably be on board when shelves start to empty as Trump brags about great his economy is. The shame of impeachment only works on people who have shame.

I don't know how prevalent it was, or how influential it was, but if you looked in more left/young online spaces in 2024, you would have seen a lot of "Kamala ain't it" handwringing, overwhelmingly "let Trump win to teach the Dems a lesson".

I live next to a national forest and what little tourism we have here, would be gone in a heartbeat if they clearcut our forests.

I live in a small Midwestern town and a local hardware store has a working cat. When you go in during the day he sleeps next to the cash register, but apparently leaves dead rats by the front door for the morning crew to dispose of.

You'd think that someone would have their eyes opened eventually. Oh, they just KEEP having whistle-blowers do their thing. Could it be that the people they're blowing the whistle on, are baddies? No, it is the leaker who is bad!

I'm not 100% certain but I THINK your REAL ID or a passport would count, if that passes. The first legal issue will be requiring purchasing a Federally compliant ID to vote; that counts as a poll tax.
comment in response to
post
All this talk of requiring a photo ID to vote is slightly incorrect; at the Federal level, the attempt is to require a REAL ID to vote. This once again raises a states' rights issue, and the issue of a de facto poll tax. But I digress.
comment in response to
post
REAL ID is different. It's a Federal (US) level database and was enacted after 9/11 to make life easier for the TSA. It passed 20 years ago but the US being the US, states have fought it for years because it cedes a lot of control to the Federal government.
You can also use a passport.

Which is to say, if I was writing that from the perspective of a young man who wasn't disabled from something far less strenuous than soccer, I'd question the merit of my comment. As it is, I'll wrap this up by saying, "troll".

As a 50 year old man who's recovering from a serious fracture I got by tripping and falling inside my own home, wear your protective gear, y'all, the game isn't worth disability. Having said that exercise should be fun

And that's the thing. A lot of companies moved overseas because it was actually cheaper to make the darn things in China and ship them across the Pacific, than it is to make them in Indiana.
But some folks want their cake and want to eat it. GL with that.

First time in my life I've planned to leave North America on a trip, and it's when this asshat has decided to go up to the table of 80 years of relative world peace, and upend the table.

And if you check the old version of Bluesky aka X, they're over there busy trying to convince everyone that the only people worried are broke liberals, the reason prices are going up is because of greed, and don't worry, tariffs aren't taxes but look at how much India puts on our exports over there

To be fair, less than half of America voted for the bullshit that's going on right now. You know they've completely lost the plot when they try to say "we're saving it for REAL Americans, then." Democrats need to learn from this moment. Desperately.

If some alleged leaks are true, it's the Bondi letter to the FBI, the publicly available flight log, and the publicly available, somehow even more redacted, black book.

With all the chaos going on, who wants to commit to spending money? Nobody's totally sure how dependent the private sector is on a functioning Federal government. I mean, there's what, about 15 hospitals in Alabama about to close immediately?
