Wow. When I saw the news Tesla was down 8% I didn't know that meant in 1 day.

I believe you said that it was misinformation that residents in Gaza were facing famine. Can you recommend reporting on conditions there that you believe is accurate? Thank you for your Hub Canada conversations as well as your podcast.

After the finale and wondering if cast changes were coming, I realized I like the whole cast. I'm rooting for each of them to have breakout moments.

Ok the Florence Pugh is more of a wish than a prediction but I really liked her in Thunderbolts*

I had a cost acctg prof. who managed a business in ’90s that sold packaged candy and nuts to Walmart. They understood the economics of their suppliers and dictated the price suppliers got. They have monopsony power. There is no 'give' in the supply chain for a tariff shock. We've hit the iceberg.

I really like how Robert Heilbroner put it in an interview on McNeil/Lehrer decades ago, "The public house in which the private sector lives."

I had a female professor who had begun her teaching career at Cornell's hospitality program and she said she had a male student who would read the newspaper in her class. She said he couldn't believe he was having to take a class from her. She got her PhD from the London School of Economics.

You would be tipping them off. No self respecting kidnapper would not recognize that as a cry for help.

It never occurred to me that there was a name for the headwear other than pope hat. "Mitre." Have to keep that in mind for crosswords and Wordle starting word.

I just ordered issue #1 to try as Kelly Thompson reposted this. Can anyone recommend a way to buy digital comics that doesn't involve Amazon?

The season 6 episode with Matthew Rhys and the outro that transitions into Rihanna "Desperado" I thought was brilliant. I just remembered Aidy Bryant scenes in the last season too. Rather than getting weaker I think Girls got better in later seasons.

In Oregon I have had friends who lived in California absolutely agree. Especially LA I think. I live in a 24% Hispanic/Latino City and if there is good Mexican food it is in people's homes, not in restaurants.

Look at you all fancy and la-di-da with real dishes. I'm talking about ham & cheese sandwiches on white rolls with shredded iceberg lettuce that Kmart sold by the plastic bagful next to boys pants just past the lawn chairs. Get some Pop Shop pop and spend Saturday running through the sprinkler. :)

I see a lot of posts with fine dining selections but for me my best remembered food is pretty low brow or mid but just hit the right combination that for me are irreplaceable.

I worked at Taco Bell in the 1980s. What people didn't realize is that the food was made from scratch. Dried beans cooked in pressure cookers with lard. Vegetables shredded and sliced in store. Shells and chips fried daily. No microwaves, all on gas stoves and steam tables.

One of the things I appreciated in Santos offering a room to Whitaker was him immediately jumping on it. That struck me as so much more realistic than when a script has the person resist help due to pride.
Dana wouldn't hesitate about pressing charges though.

I think in Toms Twitter feed years ago there was a woman doing like a yoga move in her seat. Her legs perfectly straight up and soles of her feet flat against the ceiling above her seat. There's been worse pictures but for some reason the absolute self absorbed arrogance just...Woof.

I'm not qualified to comment on bond yields but I do know that using visual inspection of a graph that uses two different Y axis' can be misleading. The ranges can be altered, biasing our perception of significance. You can close or expand the gap.

When the movie was over they cleared the theater so we couldn't stay to watch it again. We walked a couple of miles home with a couple of inches of snow on the ground. (I think I fantasized that we were trekking like Clark did.) I was exhilarated by seeing Superman like no movie since. It's still #1

I could watch a whole movie of the little vignettes; saving the cat from the tree, busting criminals. To me there isn't a Superman without Lois and Margot Kidder was fantastic. (as I think Rachel Brosnahan will be).

When I was 12 I just stared at the full page ad in the newspaper, "You will believe a man can fly." I went with my little brother and sister to the Eastgate theater in Portland. It was showing on the main screen, the biggest in town. I loved the scenes of teen Clark, and the Fortress of Solitude.

On Elle's account she linked to this YouTube video. It starts out in a different way from where it goes very quickly. I have only watched up to 12min but I found it compelling; about a girl to woman being interested in science.

I don't think people remember how alarming trade deficits were in the press in the 1980s. Japanese automakers just made such inroads and scared the hell out of Detroit. Japanese buying Rockefeller Plaza because of trade surplus with US probably struck Trump.

I'm surprised by the number of mentions for "Hotel California," when "New Kid in Town" and "Victim of Love" are both on the same album.
