In a democracy, should the question we ask ourselves be "Am I better off?" What about "are other people better off?" "Are the laws fair?" "Are we more secure?" "Are we trashing the planet for the future?" The left, in particular, should be really wary of transactional framings of democracy. 1/3

Akua Reinsdorf claims that trans people have been lied to about the extent of our rights. Her interpretation of law was dismissed in 2020 by Mr Justice Henshaw when Anne Sinnott tried to sue the EHRC over its support of those rights. Reinsdorf was later appointed as an EHRC Commissioner.

Let me be clearer. I was former head of UK Foreign Office humanitarian affairs, incl policy on war crimes, genocide. I helped craft policy for international criminal court. I’m in no doubt these are war crimes. Disproportionate, indiscriminate, collective punishment by an occupying power.
