At Mass Saturday, we saw here in the church in Loix, Île de Ré, France, two plaques listing the village’s dead in WWI and WWII. About 7 men in WWII and 35 in WWI. 7 in WWI had the same surname. One from WWII had the same surname as one in WWI. Chilling and unbelievable. A small village like this…
