I worked in retail years before the current TCG explosion and even then some of the most entitled, awful, rude and abusive customers were there for the trading cards. I blame the TCG companies for leaning in to their core market being middlemen in an unregulated asset gambling market for children.

I can’t imagine the level of mass employee trauma that is about to happen over the next X months as they attempt to turn around the container ship of modern game development. Realistically what can even be done in a year? If they are even given that much time.

It feels now more than ever that the DNC leadership hates not being the Republican Party circa 2000. They want to do polite fascism and see the current collapse of the GOP as the time to pivot into that role. Any actual progressive legislation is seen as hampering that end goal.

Yeah I’m going to go out on a limb and say that if an expert needs to track your sleep they won’t except “my Nintendo account” as a reasonably accurate source. Consumer tech being substituted for medical tech is going to cost lives.

I don’t get the point of sleep tech either. At least with a lot of intrusive technology I can kinda get what the benefit of freedom for convenience is.

Thanks for posting this. I loved the Last of Us 2 on first play through but was not following the media surrounding the game at the time and missed a lot of the background. This makes a lot of the more cynical and nihilistic parts of the game make more sense. Appreciate the context.

There is no better example of the current stage of capitalism than:
1. A town in the poorest region of the US was being exploited for a critical component by the tech industry
2. When that town was destroyed the first articles written about that tragedy are how that will effect the tech industry
