2/ For the last five years, MAGA has been bathed in political violence.
Most importantly, MAGA's celebration of January 6th and Trump's decision to pardon ALL the Jan 6 rioters - including the most violent - became a clear endorsement of violence committed in his name.

If 10 MAGAs marched during the Biden administration they would get thoughtful NYT feature about the discontent of "real" Americans. If 10 million marched in 1000 cities around the country, it would dominate the news cycle for a month and pundits would be clucking about a new political age.

It's always great to see Bishop Barber open a can of Old Testament whup ass on the MAGAs. Probably the only person who could get me to go to church.

I'm not a big opera fan but that sounds kind of interesting. Does he mean Colombia the country or Columbia the university?

The culture of violence was not created by generic "extremists." It was created by Donald Trump, the Republican Party, and a casual, continual stoking of rage and brutality by the leadership of the GOP.

Wow,the NYT reporting news. I assume they'll be following up with interviews of scowling white men in a coffee shop in Iowa saying they still love Trump.

I was really struck by that and glad I stuck a small one on my pack. Time to reclaim our flag.

An let's not forget the porta-johns, which I consider the true measure of a civilized protest!

So does this mean that weren't all criminals? But it was still okay to deny due process because....never mind, I don't have the energy.

Haven't seen any estimates on numbers yet and it was hard to tell from in the middle. Felt as big as the Women's March in 17, but that might've been bigger. Would love to see what it looked like from the Art Museum steps. Somebody must've gotten that.

It was great having Rep. Raskin in Philly. He even managed to make a cheese steak reference in his comprehensive take down of Trump!

In the middle of this right now by the art museum. Just heard Jamie Raskin speak. This city rocks!

They always act like it's some huge mystery. What could possibly have been the cause?? Gee, I don't know, maybe 10 years of casual calls for political violence by the GOP aligned leadership? Nahh, it must be something else....

We were on a protest out on the highway a couple of weeks ago and Walmart tractor trailers were blowing airhorns in support. Maybe somebody figured out what a tariff is!

Also it shows us that none of this is new. Authoritarianism, racism, fascism, religious bigotry have been the ugly underbelly of human society for generations, if not longer. They have to be fought every time they rise up. This is what it looked like 80 years ago. www.youtube.com/watch?v=b6hB...

US military is conducting operations to stabilize US regions disrupted by US president. It’s perfectly 'logical'
US military is occupying US cities to save them from chaos caused by US president. Clearly, it’s 'sound' strategy

Watching the human costs of this rising fascism is agonizing. Watching the continued cowardice of most major institutions in the face of it all is enraging.

As I recall "lunging" and "bum rush" have been standard language a lot of times when police shoot POC. Read that as "a big, dark skinned man scared me by existing."

I'm really not too worried, but trying to be prudent without being paranoid. To be fair, I'm a gear junkie, so I never miss a chance to prep...😎 But I think we all do have to be a little more aware of safety.
