Good morning and happy Tuesday to everyone. When someone uses the word ‘illegals’ I’m done listening to what they have to say. Humans aren’t illegal, but your dehumanization and demonization should be.

Fascism in one picture.

My more optimistic take on the whole “did the protests do anything” debate is that here is value to showing you are not alone and that a massive number of people are willing to come out and be public even in very far right areas. Organization takes time and a diversity of tactics is a positive.

Good question.

I get upset when I hear the Civil Rights movement characterized as “nonviolent”. It was violent. People were injured. Killed. There *was* violence. It just wasn’t perpetrated by the resistors.

97% of extremist-related murders in the U.S. in 2024 were linked to right-wing extremists. It’s not a political movement anymore - it’s a hobby for failed men with too much testosterone and not enough brain cells.

BREAKING: 87 year old veteran was released from the D.C. jail after being arrested Friday on the Capitol steps while protesting the Trump parade. Asked how it felt to be arrested at 87, he replied, 'I'm just beginning, my friend.'

One of my biggest disappointments in American discourse over the past decade has been the mainstream media. With very few exceptions, they have failed the American people miserably.

Hey there Scott Walker. I noticed you deleted this after learning that in fact the shooter was from the right. I don’t think it matters either way, violence is violence, so I’m waiting for you to tweet the same thing with corrected facts? Cuz you’re uh, to use your words, “being silent.”

Worth a listen cuz Rachel brings the smarts. Get out there!

“The contrast between the protests and the military parade suggested an important shift in political culture. The momentum and the joy, as well as the American flags, were on the side of those protesting Trump’s growing authoritarianism.” — @hcrichardson.bsky.social

Kinda wild that we all get to pay taxes to fund a civil war against us

How many reporters are currently working on tell-all exposés about their own organization, detailing all the acts of cowardice of their editors and publishers? I won’t ever buy your book about Sleepy Joe Biden, but I’d absolutely devour a book about the internal collapse of the NYT or CNN.

Today is a good day to reevaluate where you get your news from. How did your news sources describe Trump’s pathetic parade? How did they describe the protests? Did they lie about the crowd sizes? Or did they tell the truth? These moments can be really clarifying.

So some idea of the breadth of #NoKings, within my immediate family 10 people in 6 different states participated in some action (that I know of). My fam has always been fairly progressive but most of them have not been politically active up to now. This is what a people's uprising looks like.

🤣 you talking about how this kid, who isn’t even shaving yet, in charge of counterterrorism, doesn’t make you feel SAFE…🧐

I really really needed to see that people hadn't given up and accepted this shit as inevitable, or (even worse) embraced it. And today showed us that beautifully. No one wanted in on his tank show, but people WERE HUNGRY to tell him to go fuck himself.

Analyst on MPR asked about whether political violence is a problem now, and talks about partisanship. No. The problem is an enormous and growing community of far right radicals, mostly online. They are encouraged by Trump and his cronies, and actively celebrate violence, without consequence.

‼️‼️

A reminder to reporters, when historians look back on this moment with the president throwing himself a military parade and the people throwing No Kings rallies across America, the media sources raving about the former and sneering at the latter are going to be quoted by name. This is your legacy!

Greenberg: We're looking to the leaders who will fight for us, because even today there are folks among the Democratic Party who think we should roll over and play dead. Anyone seeing John Fetterman here today?

Philly #NoKings. I know we were rocking Philly style when the "F*ck Trump, Go Birds" chant started. Hey, politics is one thing, but we won the freaking Superbowl.
